Let's have a little look at some of the scandals we have had over the last 5 months. Just to refresh our memories as to how much failure we have put up with in 138 short days
Then 65 days later we had #Golfgate which resulted in a 2 week stand off to make Phil Hogan resign as EU Commissioner, and we still haven't had any answers as to who was on Brian Hayes table, or what is happing with Supreme court Judge Seamus Woulfe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oireachtas_Golf_Society_scandal?wprov=sfla1
We'd the rushing through of controversial legislation that was going to seal the archives of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby homes for 30 years, causing massive trauma to thousands of survivors and adoptees. Thank goodness for the Data Protection Commissioner
But we still don't know which Attorney General Minister O'Gorman was citing when he said that he had taken the AG's advice about the legality of sealing the files. Was it SĂŠamus Woulfe or was it Paul Gallagher? https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40072403.html
Speaking of SĂŠamus Woulfe. He's refused to meet his boss and give an account as to why a supreme court Judge was at a golf dinner with a load of politicians and a top banker. He's sick, the poor love. We should find out where to send him flowers.
Oh back to Minster Donnelly again, cos he really is the most inept of them all. He lied to the faces of the women who are dying of cervical cancer. The women who were so utterly failed by corner cutting and cover up
He told them the tribunal into the cervical check scandal was on hold, as they were not happy with the structure of it. Then he went and set it up anyway. Disgusting.
I'm sure I've missed some so feel free to hit me up and I'll add it
And don't forget that we put thousands of bottles of ineffective faulty hand sanitizer in schools

Some of the product contains methanol rather than ethanol. Prolonged use of such sanitiser may cause dermatitis, eye irritation, upper respiratory system irritation and headaches
They're literally asleep at the wheel
Here's a great thread on how the government have consistently voted against bills to help poor people, renters, oppressed and marginalised people thanks to @Antifa_VP https://twitter.com/Antifa_VP/status/1319414664514646019?s=19
And we've a Minister for Gaeltacht that can't speak Irish
@MichealMartinTD @LeoVaradkar @EamonRyan

For your scrap books lads. Well done you bunch of fools
Too important to forget. They're losing migrants passports and paperwork in the INIS
DOJ losing very important things too https://twitter.com/Revolution_IRL/status/1322515235413123072?s=19
Oh yes, college students being pushed to move into their rented accommodation only to have their colleges be effectively cancelled right at the last minute. SUSI paying out a month late and then cutting grant payments the day before they were paid. Well done @SimonHarrisTD
In August they announced they were opening a new Direct Provision centre specifically for victims of sex trafficking, despite the fact that they committed to ending Direct Provision in the next 4 years. They said they're giving the contract to Ruhama and De Paul. Cont....
To expand on the #LeoTheLeak stuff, TĂĄnaiste Leo Varadkar, who was Taoiseach at the time defended his giving of a confidential trade agreement with another union to NAGP by saying the terms were already reported, but it turns out NAGP had threatened to lobby to vote against FG..
Oh and two years after we #RepealedThe8th we still have people travelling to the UK for abortions because our legislation is not up to scratch https://www.abortionrightscampaign.ie/2020/09/25/care-at-home-after-failed-abortion/
So, @rodericogorman was busy saying that the AG said this and the AG said that in relation to the sealing of the Archive on the M&B homes, but it turns out that he didn't go speak to the AG himself until AFTER the bill was passed and challenged
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/roderic-o-gorman-s-first-direct-contact-with-ag-was-in-october-1.4399352?mode=amp
Ex #Debenhams workers battling 210 days for a fair redundancy. @MichealMartinTD said we were treated “shabbily” by Debenhams but he’s not doing a thing to help. @LeoVaradkar did nothing either, in fact all government parties voted against a bill to help the Debenhams workers
On the 22nd July the MOJ @HMcEntee introduced a bill that would allow Vulture Funds evict people without having the original paperwork, mortgage and lease agreements. This was enacted into law on 6th August, so pretty breakneck speed on that law https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/bills/bill/2020/18/
Back to Supreme Court Judge Seamus Woulfe. The Chief Justice of the country has recommended that he resign due to his attendance of the #Golfgate dinner and all subsequent actions by him.....he has declined to do so.
Today the government tried to appoint Geraldine Feeney to the Standards of Public Office which is an agency that makes sure elected officials conduct themselves and their business correctly. She used to be a lobbyist for NAGP, you know NAGP that @LeoVaradkar leaked documents to
And they all tried to pretend like everything was fine https://twitter.com/gavreilly/status/1328420205693906947?s=19
And then the Minister for Justice hid behind the constitution, instead of having any fortitude to start impeachment proceedings against Seamus Woulfe https://twitter.com/fionnansheahan/status/1329859612452003840?s=19
Thousands of people were affected by intimate images of them being stored in Mega Files online and shared without their consent. Legislation to make this a crime was found to have been gathering dust in the Oireachtas since 2017 https://twitter.com/drivetimerte/status/1329478114175557633?s=19
Reminder, when I started this thread we were 138 days into this government. We're now only 159 days in!!
On the 2nd December 2020, FF/FG/Greens all voted against paying student nurses who had been working at the front line for €50 a week allowance during Covid-19 https://twitter.com/bridsmithTD/status/1334261782941143042?s=19
And we currently have 8,737 people homeless, 2642 of which are children (not including hidden homeless). Homelessness rose during the pandemic. 56 people are dead so far this year because of lack of housing and support services.

The government commited to raising Greyhound Racing funding to €19.2M for 2021. When @HollyCairnsTD raised an objection to the €2m increase a member of the IGB called her "an ignorant little girl" in a tweet. FG TD @joecareytd
Liked the tweet https://twitter.com/HollyCairnsTD/status/1333853457267220481?s=19
Oh and we have ongoing 15k a day in fines from the EU for Derrybrien because ESB (95% state owned) refuses to engage in any meaningful way to resolve the problems they caused. Over €10M wasted so far & this increases 15k everyday.

https://amp.rte.ie/amp/1178326/
They also cut the cleaning budget for January for schools by 40%.....in the middle of the worst outbreak yet of Covid-19 https://twitter.com/simonmlewis/status/1344229427799068672?s=19
They finally published the Trans Healthcare report, but it was significantly different from the final edition that the Steering Committee on Trans Healthcare had been shown
Thread here: https://twitter.com/Noah_Halpin/status/1343684810997452802?s=19

https://www.thejournal.ie/trans-healthcare-ireland-5286303-Dec2020/
And we had several TD's wanting looser restrictions before Christmas, contrary to NPHET recommendations. As it is we are now on the worst wave of the #COVID19 outbreak yet with 6,110 cases today and the ICU capacity expected to be approx 400 in 2 weeks https://twitter.com/TMCreamer/status/1342047637600686080?s=19
And no news yet on schools and childcare facilities being closed longer than the 11th Jan, yet after schools reopened in September the infection rates of Covid who were children went from.4% to 19%. The Minister for Education @NormaFoleyTD1 's comments... https://twitter.com/aoifegracemoore/status/1346141838445604864?s=19
Oh and after them voting not to pay the student nurses, they rowed back and are now giving them.....wait for it.....€100 a week 😱 https://twitter.com/rtenews/status/1346179278476554240?s=19
In response to Donal Trump inciting rioters to storm Capitol Hill @SimonHarrisTD forgot how to use his words
They did get Ireland to the top of the table though....that table being the highest rate of covid infections per 1,000,000 people in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!

But according to @NormaFoleyTD1
And @josephamadigan last week, schools are perfectly safe. https://twitter.com/peterdonaghy/status/1348034214311190528?s=19
Oh and remember the 4,000 page report that @rodericogorman kept talking about, that was due imminently back in October...well it's finally here....kind of.....well it was leaked to the press see, before Survivors got a chance to see it. https://twitter.com/rodericogorman/status/1348306017919127555?s=19
However the @TuamHome Survivors Network believe this leak is to cover up for something much more insidious. It's to distract from a piece of legislation that will ban a full inquest into the deaths of 9000 babies and Children in the Mother and Baby homes. https://tuamhomesurvivors.com/press-releases/119-press-statement-of-the-tuam-home-survivors-network-11th-january-2021
REMINDER: THIS THREAD IS ONLY WHAT HAS OCCURED SINCE THE 15TH JUNE, SO THE LAST 211 DAYS SINCE THIS GOVERNMENT TOOK OFFICE.
If you want to make a submission in regard to this bill which may stop the Inquiry into the M&B homes and the children that died there, you have until the 24th Jan to do so. I would recommend everybody calls for an independent inquiry. https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/51a535-general-scheme-of-a-certain-institutional-burials-authorised-interve/
Quietly, and hoping that it wouldn't be noticed, @LeoVaradkar reinstated the party whip to the senators who had lost it because of #GolfGate
He did this around the same time on the same day as the release of the controversial Mother and Baby home Report https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1349016043642093571?s=19
About the #MotherAndBabyHome Report. You can only call it state sponsored gaslighting of survivors and adoptees. Basically it's says
📢 The nuns were harsh but not abusive
📢 Sure the women had to work for free, but they'd have had to do that anyway in their own homes and farms
#motherandbabyhomes cont
📢 Yeah mortality was high but that was the times we live in
📢 Ireland was awful to women, patriarchy is bad
📢 Sure other countries had M&B homes too, doesn't matter that 97% of single mothers gave birth in ours
📢 The state don't need to pay redress
#motherandbabyhomes cont

📢 The Reason why the state don't have to pay redress is that these women were treated no worse than they would have been outside the homes
📢 They weren't incarcerated, even if they thought they were
No wonder they were in a rush to seal the records for 30 years that this report is built from #motherandbabyhomes https://twitter.com/LindaOkaythen/status/1322499984009404416?s=19
