The risk of election hacking by domestic actors has always been underplayed. Transparency about our election system is crucial to maintaining the integrity of results and public confidence in them - @jennycohn1 on @deepstateradio 1/
Election-integrity groups had hoped to protect vote tallies in 2020 w/ robust manual audits (RLAs). But only 3 states will require them: CO, RI, & VA. If we want transparency this year, we’ll have to rely on grass roots transparency efforts. - @jennycohn1 2/
3/ Note: for some bizarre reason, I identified Vermont (rather than Virginia) as the 3d State to require risk limiting audits this year. It is Virginia, which I knew, so I’m not sure what happened w/ my brain there.
4/ Here are 8 election transparency efforts I support, including #PhotoFinish, the project that the group I co-founded ( @ProtectVotes) is working on. We and some of the other projects need volunteers. Sign up info in the thread. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1315422025641463809.html
5/ I will continue posting about grass roots election transparency projects at the top of my twitter timeline.
