Here’s a thread of the 25 best hip-hop artists of all time!
25. Big Boi

Not very many rappers can rap alongside Andre 3000 and not look dramatically inferior. Some of OutKast’s best verses are with Big Boi at the helm, and with a great discography he definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Favourite Album: Aquemini
24. J Dilla

Jay Dee constantly put out great material during his career which unfortunately, was cut short. His production with Slum Village is magnificent and Donuts is simply one of the best instrumental hip-hop albums of all time.

Favourite Album: Donuts
23. Playboi Carti

Carti’s very special to me because his music creates an incredible atmosphere with his innovative production and unique delivery. While his lyricism is in question by many, his lack of serious subject matter makes his music really fun.

Favourite Album: Die Lit
22. El-P

While I’m not as much of a fan of his rapping as other people on this list, his hip-hop beats have always seemed very creative to me. I’ve always admired his social-political messages in his lyricism also.

Favourite Album: Run The Jewels 2
21. Ol’ Dirty Bastard

ODB is delivery and voice have always gravitated me towards his music. His lyrics are some of the funniest I’ve ever heard in all of music, and he would be higher if he didn’t unfortunately pass away so young.

Favourite Album: Return to the 36 Chambers
20. Quelle Chris

Quelle has been meaningful to me as of late due to his strong messaging in his music. I also love his raspy delivery and experimental production. He could still climb higher on my all time list and he hasn’t made a bad album.

Favourite Album: Innocent Country 2
19. Bladee

His music was not for me just a short while ago, but he’s really grown into me. I love his production, and his lyrics, which can deal with themes such as heartbreak and depression. He has a feel for melody also. Future legend of the genre.

Favourite Album: Gluee
18. GZA

GZA would be much higher if he had more albums up to level of Liquid Swords, which is a top 10 album of all time. His flow and lyricism are unmatched on the that album, but I still definitely like his music on other works.

Favourite Album: Liquid Swords
17. Black Thought

Black Thought really has no weak spot. He’s got a consistent discography with the Roots, a great flow, is introspective, and has a great voice. Why he isn’t higher is because he doesn’t leave an impact on me unlike others on this list.

Favourite Album: undun
16. Eminem

If Eminem retired after Relapse, he would unanimously been one of the best rappers of all time. While his recent output has been garbage (MBTMB was good imo) his early catalog is just so damn good. Give the man his respect.

Favourite Album: Relapse
15. JPEGMAFIA

Peggy is such a breath of fresh air for the current hip-hop scene. His production is just so different compared to everyone else, while having a great sense of melody on top of being a great spitter. GOAT potential.

Favourite Album: All My Heroes Are Cornballs
14. Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick comes in one spot higher because of his incredibly strong discography already. With a wonderful flow and cadence, K-Dot is also always on point with his strong concepts and messages in his music.

Favourite Album: To Pimp A Butterfly
13. Phife Dawg

As the Robin to Q-Tip’s Batman, Phife Dawg had some of A Tribe Called Quest’s best moments. Phife always brought charisma, playfulness and energy to the mic, and he’s part of the reason why Tribe was so successful.

Favourite Album: The Low End Theory
12. Jay-Z

Even 24 years after his debut, Hov proved that he’s still one of the most talented rappers on the earth. While Jay’s consistency has been in question, he still has some of the highest highs in music with Reasonable Doubt and 4:44.

Favourite Album: Reasonable Doubt
11. Earl Sweatshirt

Earl’s emotion and lyricism in his music is unmatched. Add this with some dark, lo-fi, and experimental beats, and you get one of the best hip-hop artists of the decade. He’s still young and has serious GOAT potential.

Favourite Album: Some Rap Songs
10. Ghostface Killa

Ghostface is the most talented rapper in Wu-Tang. Considering all the names from the group, this is an amazing feat. I’ve always loved his passion and cadence while rapping, and his introspection in his raps is not to be slept on.

Favourite Album: Ironman
9. Danny Brown

When you have the best hip-hop album of all time, there’s a good chance you will be high on the list. Danny is one of the most unique rappers of all time. Flow? Lyricism?Interesting production? conceptually strong? He got it.

Favourite Album: Atrocity Exhibition
8. RZA

As the head beat-maker for the Wu-Tang, RZA has some of the best hip-hop production ever. His production perfectly fits the gritty, new york style of Wu-Tang, and the group wouldn’t even exist without him. Can’t forget, a great rapper too.

Favourite Album: Liquid Swords
7. Madlib

The best producer of all time. Madvillain and Piñata are masterpieces, and his use of sampling is phenomenal. He has an epic catalog with many great albums, and nobody can make beats quite like him.

Favourite Album: Madvillany
6. Kanye West

What has been said about Kanye that hasn’t been said already? His discography is amazing, his production and songwriting are phenomenal. He’s more conceptual than most people give him credit for, and he’s so damn creative.

Favourite Album: The Life Of Pablo
5. MF DOOM

Doom’s lyricism is something to marvel at. His rhyme schemes and double and triple entendres are incredible, and this is beautifully complemented with abstract production. An incredibly consistent discography also.

Favourite Album: Madvillainy
4. MC Ride

Death Grips’ other two members are great, but with Ride as the front man, the group goes to another level. With Ride’s energetic and entertaining vocals, which perfectly goes with the production, he deserves a spot high on the list.

Favourite Album: The Powers That B
3. Andre 3000

As 1/2 of OutKast, Andre proved himself as one of the most creative artists walking the earth. He can be bouncing off the walls with his personality one song, and the next song he’s introspective. He’s got such an amazing catalog too.

Favourite Album: Aquemini
2. Q-Tip

A Tribe Called Quest are the best hip-hop act of all time, and Q-Tip was the creative head of them. His flow is so clean, his rhymes are fun and playful, but with serious meaning behind them. He’s also a phenomenal producer. An icon.

Favourite album: The Low End Theory
1.Mario Judah

The best rapper of all time, by a long shot too. Die Very Rough is the best piece of music ever created. His flow, concepts, use of double and triple entendres are unmatched. He’s also the best artist in the history of music.
