❄️CHRISTMAS MOVIE THREAD ❄️

This year has been a huge disappointment, and I’m relying on Christmas to bring some much needed sparkle and joy back into life.
I have decided to set myself the “challenge” of watching/ranking every Netflix-produced Christmas film. Stay tuned!👇🏻👇🏻
Up first: Holidate.
Came out today. Laugh out loud funny and comfortingly predictable. It’s a bit festive but only has around a combined 20ish mins of tinsel time, so quite good for this early in the season. However, this girl needs more fairy lights & cinnamon sticks. 6.5/10 🎄
2: Christmas with a View
Two sad restauranteurs have a hard time getting together over Christmas.
Although it IS Christmas-tastic (candy canes and spruces everywhere) and it does try very hard... it is soooo boring. Mainly here for the foodie shots if I’m honest. 3.5/10☃️❄️
3: Christmas Inheritance
Party heiress gets sent to Dad’s old hometown to find the meaning of charity and community... and finds love!
VERY festive, very cute and I very much wish Andie MacDowell was my aunty - a solid 7/10 ❄️☃️🎄
4. The Holiday Calendar
A struggling photographer navigates her love life, family and ambition at Christmas time. But surprise! She has a magical calendar that’s able to predict the future, one decoration at a a time. Cute, festive, candy floss for the eyes. 6/10☃️❄️🎄
5. Christmas Made to Order
Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels has grown up. He’s a busy architect who needs to host family Xmas so he hires a festive coordinator for all things Yuletide... and love! Accurate representation of adulthood&way too many fairy lights? Count me in! 6.75/10 ☃️🎁
6. My Christmas Inn
Busy San Fran marketing agent inherits an inn from a great aunt all the way in Alaska... but that’s not all she inherits!
A gorgeous cast, a town I want to live in, and plenty of Christmas in every scene - I loved it. 7.5/10 🎄🎁❄️
7. Operation Christmas Drop
Holiday Calendar lady is in politics and sent to close down an airbase in Guam...but when she gets there, she doesn’t just find Christmas spirit! This is based on real events, which is cute, but I can’t vibe to festive snorkels and coconuts. 6/10☃️🎁🎄
8. Christmas Wonderland
A painter turned art dealer returns home for Christmas. where reminders of her old life lead to reunions with the paint brush and her first love! Comfortingly predictable (despite incredibly small high school classes) and all round lovely. 6/10❄️🎁❄️
9. The Princess Switch
A baker and a princess (who, can you believe, look identical) swap lives to find themselves... and love! Castles, princes, baking, candy canes and snow everywhere almost distract me from the terrible English accent. I loved it. Gimme the sequel. 8/10 ☃️🎁🎄
10. The Knight Before Christmas
A 14th C Norwich knight somehow ends up in 2019 and falls in love with Vanessa Hudgens (no longer a baker or princess, now a teacher). Unrealistic, plotless nonsense... and yet I did not switch it off (plus the Alexa bits made me lol).6.5/10🎄☃️🎁
11. The Christmas Chronicles
2 feuding siblings reconnect in their mission to catch Santa on video. Car chases, cute elves, jailbreak musical numbers and Kurt Russell as the *perfect* Santa - I am impressed and ready for part 2 out later in the month. 9/10 ❄️☃️🌟
12. Midnight at the Magnolia
2 unlucky-in-love-best-friend-radio-DJs pretend to be a couple in order to land a new contract... but it turns out their feelings aren’t so fake! This has some jazz (yay!) and was thoroughly predictable in a lovely way. 6.5/10 ☃️🎁🌟
13. Holiday in the Wild
Charlotte from SATC spends Christmas WITH BABY ELEPHANTS! I have to say, I like my Christmas films to have more snow and candy canes so this didn’t do much for me, but I’m adding a point for the elephants as they’re my fave animal. 6/10🐘🌟☃️
14. Dash and Lily
*DISCLAIMER* this is a TV show but it’s a Netflix original with a festive focus so I say it counts. This was addictive, lovely watching and had so much Christmas spirit I can barely remember the plot. Would recommend for tired brains! 7.5/10 ✨❄️🎄
15. Jingle Jangle
An inventor loses his family and job after an invention is stolen. Can he regain his former glory? A cross between Hamilton and Mr Magorium with plenty of Victoriana and magic. 10yo me would have been obsessed. Minus 1 point as 2hr5 a bit long! 7/10 ❄️☃️🎄
16. A Christmas Prince
A journalist goes undercover in order to expose a playboy prince, but he isn’t what she expected! Castles, archery, princes, Christmas trees in bedrooms, an interregnum, a royal decree...is there anything this doesn’t have?!HYPED for the sequels 8/10❄️🎄🌟
17. Christmas Land
Another inheritance story! This time, a busy marketing genius inherits a whole Christmas town! Boyfriends, bail outs and the worst title ever. Super average, but very watchable. 6/10 🎄❄️🌟
18. The Princess Switch: Switched Again
The princess and the baker are back! Netflix defo invested more in the editing AND fairy lights. This time we have dungeons and chloroform to add some danger. Watch for some Netflix friends in final scene... and otherwise, enjoy!8/10❄️🌟🎄
19. Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square
❄️Parton as an angel
❄️Baranski as a Scrooge-type tycoon
❄️Rhinestones
❄️Dance numbers straight out of West Side Story
❄️Wholly implausible plot
❄️Reminder to look after people
The most I’ve smiled in 2020. PUT IT ON NOW 10/10🎄❄️🌟✨
20. The Christmas Chronicles 2
The squad are back with more excitement, more Mrs Clause and more naughty elves. Again, this was an absolute joy and Kurt is a perfect Santa. I hope these become part of the canon. Pure happiness. 10/10 ❄️✨🎄
21/22 A Christmas Prince Pts 2&3
Well I liked Part 2 so much I literally chain watched Part 3 and felt so so sad when they were over. Decrees, curses, embezzlement, so much snow, sledding... what more could I ask for? 9/10 🌟✨🎄
23. Let It Snow
This is definitely one for hipster teens. Lots of Snapchat/famous pop stars/dreams of being an edgy teen. Lovely stuff, but defo not a high ranking for me. 6/10🎄❄️☃️
24. ❄️DISNEY+ SPECIAL GUEST❄️ Noelle
Okay this is an interloper on the Netflix thread but OH GOSH it was festive, funny, charming, and I had teary moments. Absolutely wonderful, with all the Disney wrappings a girl could wish for. 10/10☃️✨🎄
