In France there are no tv campaign ads. There are no lawn signs. There are no bumper stickers or truck flags. Presidential campaigns last 100 days. There’s a voting station for every maximum 1000 voters. Votes are papers slipped into an envelope & placed in an urn & hand counted.
Elections are held on Sundays. Every vote carries equal weight.
Most of what trump says - the lies, libel, slander - is illegal.
Yes, there is a media and polling blackout (including no exit polls) for the 24 hours before polls close - from Saturday night until every polling station closes Sunday night. To avoid undo influence.

Transition is immediate. As soon as the election results are verified, the transition happens and the French have a new President.
