THREAD :: The Nazis & Marxist-Leninists came from the same socialist, proto-fascist nonsense. The Nazis wanted superiority of race, while the Marxists wanted domination of all equally.

Both are evil. As Orwell said, both are Machiavellian--exchanging deceit for power.
Here's what George Orwell said about the 20th century cults, which were based on power worship, controlling humans, and deceit.
Now why is this relevant to today? Well it's probably not but you have to understand the underpinning philosophies of any politician, populist, "movement", ideology, or demagogue otherwise you're leaving yourself a blindspot. You might accidentally invite the crazies among you.
You know everyone has a little bit of interest in power, control, imposing their will on others. What makes proto-fascist and proto-marxist ideologies unique is that they are based on paranoia, lies, deceit, exaggerations, manipulations. It's power-worship above all truth.
The history of it is very complicated to cover here and can span many books. However, you have to realize that everything builds on top of another. Robespierre and his Jacobins were very similar to Marxist thoughts to the point that you could say Marx just copied Robespierre.
General Lafayette helped free us, so George Washington helped Lafayette, who sent him the Bastille Key. Washington saw French revolution as a copy of its own--until Robespierre hijacked it and murdered all Girondists. Then the French Terror started. https://www.mountvernon.org/library/digitalhistory/digital-encyclopedia/article/bastille-key/
What may start out as a good thing, can turn ugly by hijackers, usurpers who want to reintroduce the proto-totalitarian ideas in a new packaging, with a new ribbon, new wrapping paper. Language and words change but totalitarianism is still within it.
Where did the Nazi ideas come from? Take a look at Alfred Rosenberg (2nd in command; Baltic German who was a Black Head who believed in conspiracy theories), Rudolph Hess's teacher Karl Haushofer who wanted a German-Russian alliance, and WWI German general: Erich Ludendorff
If you keep staring at Nazi, Russian Empire, German Empire, and USSR history--you're going to realize that they all believed in some form of controlling of all human behavior. That they all thought everything must be done for the state. Govt control above all. Lies over truth.
And for those who think "real communism was never been tried" remember that it has been tried in almost every part of the world: China, Russia, Iran, Latin America, Syria, Iraq, Balkans, France (Robespierre! Paris Commune!)... Whatever fantasy you're imagining: it isn't real.
For those who think "but I'm not a Stalinist, I'm a <insert different proto-totalitarian ideology>" just remember Stalin and Lenin worked closely. Lenin and Marx agreed about dictatorship of the proletariat. Stalinists vs regular communist divide is only about Trotsky's revolt.
So the only real reason for the existence of "Stalinists vs other communists" is because of Trotsky's anger at Stalin. Not much of an idea disagreement. You'll also find that communists of all types and fascists of all types are prone to conspiracy theories and paranoia.
What about the evil fascists? Yes it's important to oppose their racial supremacist ideology. The whole world rejected fascists and wrote negatively about them in history books. They were conspiracy theorists and their hate had no limits.
Remember the underpinnings of fascism: deceit, corruption, paranoia, human behavioral control, and the worship of power. What you'll realize is that a lot of dangerous ideologies are exactly like fascists in one way or another. Aeterna vigilia pretium libertatis est. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem. -- Thomas Jefferson 🇺🇸

Stick to that rule and you'll find you don't have to control everyone. Look for honesty, trust in people, justice, and liberty. Let his letter to Madison explain it:

If you are interested in the origin story of these ideologies, feel free to ask the question. What you'll find is that they all start from similar ideas and evolve into something much more atrocious. If I angered you with what I wrote, that's good, now you know you can trust me.
I'm not here to confirm any beliefs but to educate on the history of how individualism and Free Republics came about and why when "movements" form for politics careful not to let it spiral out of control. Here's a fun game to understand evolution of trust: https://ncase.me/trust/
