I came to Bali to help teach dyslexic kids and I'm an ambassador for Bali Dyslexic Foundation. I just want you to know how I came to be here and how my life has taken this huge turn. Everywhere I went I'd see dogs in a desperate state, so obviously I'd do what I could to try
to help them. I took food out every day and fed as many street dogs as possible. I kitted my scooter out with a top box and saddle bags to carry as much food as possible. Some needed medical help, so I'd get them it if I could coax them into a car and get them to a vet. Corona
hit, so BDF started taking donations to help local people with food packages. Bali relies heavily on tourism and so many people were going hungry. I started noticing more and more dogs on the streets, skinnier than ever. People were abandoning their pets so they could
feed their family. We came across lots of families with dogs that were starving and the families felt bad, but we understood their situation, we're here, in the thick of it. That's when I decided I really had to try to help to keep these dogs with their families, hence the doggy
care packages. This has become a full time thing for me. I never intended to come to Bali to do this, because I never realised how bad the situation was with the dogs before I came. It's worse than ever now with Corona. I'm juggling the donations constantly. I've cried a lot
with worry. I've had countless sleepless nights. I'm trying to set up a shelter in the North because there's nothing and the North really needs it. The place I've found looks amazing, until you see all the work it needs. I've got enough to pay the rent for one year and buy cages,
a few grooming items and odd bits of furniture, but there's so much more to do there. I need to make it safe so all the repairs have to be done, pay the utility bills, supply food for the dogs, medication for the dogs, vaccinations, etc... I also have to keep the doggy care
packages going (average £30 per month per dog), feed the street dogs. The vet medical bills need paying. I have to pay volunteers (because they don't all work for nothing here), It just goes on and on. This isn't a big animal charity, it's basically me, an everyday person, trying
to do my best for these dogs. I truly can't emphasise enough how grateful I am for all the donations that have already come in from generous and kind hearted people, they have helped so much. I never expected to be here begging for help, but this is where I am. Please keep the
donations coming in and keep sharing. I need all the help I can get to make this work.
