As promised, I hereby present very clear and detailed steps (information) to enable you successfully apply, get funded, travel and enroll for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral at Universities in the USA 🇺🇸.

⚠️ Long thread. Please stay tuned.

RT for Others
I am very cognizant of the fact that if you are reading this, you are either in STEM or non-STEM so I will be using the language often. Also, my underlying assumption is that you are not currently in the USA.

I will try my best to ensure that this information is easy to digest. – bei The University of Alabama
Step 1:

No questions. Go & obtain your country’s international passport.

In addition to your identity, you will need this travel document for standardized exams and other underlying immigration process.

Kindly locate the local immigration office in your country and obtain it. – bei The University of Alabama
Step 2:

Go and obtain your academic transcript from all institutions you have attended in the past.

If you are applying for undergraduate admission, gather all results from your secondary school. For Masters and PhD, you only need post-secondary school academic transcripts. – bei The University of Alabama
Step 3:

In most cases, you need to write standardized exams.

Quick Summary:

1. English Tests:
TOEFL (iBt), IELTS (Academic) or Duolingo (some schools accept this).

2. Other tests:
For STEM: GRE
For non-STEM: GRE or GMAT
For Medical School: MAT or MCAT – bei The University of Alabama
NB: You may qualify for an exemption i.e some schools may not require some of these tests.

Until you find institutions that waive these tests, kindly plan/write them so you can submit a strong application.

You can write them locally in the country. Visit @ETSInsights.
Step 4:

Start saving up for application fees. For international students, for application to each university, you will need to pay between $40 - $105 per application. $85 on average.

This fee is usually required unless the institution offers a waiver.

Step 5:

Prepare to write academic essays. These are short 1-2 pages (500 words average) statements of purpose or letters of intent regarding your proposed program of study.

Most schools will give you prompts on what they want but there is a general structure.

Step 6:

You will be required to provide 2 - 3 Letters of Recommendations so look into your network and pencil down 3 people who can serve as referees. It can be a mix of academic and industry-based referees. Select only people who will provide very strong letters.

Step 7:

For Graduate School applicants, prepare your Academic CV.

This is a resumé which highlights your education, skills, precious work experience, certifications, awards and honors, and service (volunteering efforts, etc). Some programs don’t require this.
