They feel embarrassed when they have to second-guess basics, like groceries.

They feel stupid for not having enough in savings and eventually blame themselves for a lack of foresight.

They hide from plans because they don't want the anxiety of a bill being just a tad out of reach.
An otherwise assertive and confident individual, they can't seem to apply this to get what is rightfully theirs: money for work accomplished. They feel small for awhile.
