When the Black celebrity class attempts to leverage their “celebrity” on “our behalf” it’s always on some money shit— Never about what communities need. Not housing, health, education or the environment. Just a way to get more businesses.
People like me will NEVER have an audience with these politicians because I’m too poor to be a potential donor, which renders me nonexistent to them. But I’m down with a local Black political org and not pretending to represent all Black people.
All this going straight to the politicians without even collaborating with ACTUAL FUCKING BLACK PEOPLE who your so-called “solutions” will impact is hustling backwards.
You cannot speak FOR ME having never spoken WITH ME. And these rappers are running around using “us” and “we” knowing damned well they don’t sit among us when CLASS INTERESTS are the topic.
They can say “we need more jobs” AND IGNORE WORKING CONDITIONS, labor unions, cost of living and access to healthcare. BUT THEY ARE OFFERING US AS LABORERS, NOT THEMSELVES.
Which usually means, they will unveil new businesses so that they can look benevolent for employing us, but think of what the business proprietors receive that their employees will not.
We are being “dangled” before politicians and it is being sold to us as a political favor. We can lead ourselves, y’all. But you have to divest from the notion that one day, you’ll be the wealthy Black celebrity.
This is the book I’m reading right now. Shout outs to #LiberationThroughReadingBC. Black politics are in desperate need of modernization. That is not achieved through the same old bullshit.
People keep pretending no one tried to save Black people. We have tried and always try. But this same shit keeps happening. The mission is fucking sabotaged by people out for themselves.
I have to think of my son, my future, my health, my safety. So much more than “is this gonna make me money?” And these celebs don’t have any concern for that shit. Their goal is to look like leadership. But who is following their lead?
No one appointed them, yet here they are “leading” us nowhere. We don’t have to follow. We can lead ourselves. Check out the text. I have reading to do. As always: #DoTheFuckingReading. Peace.
