//Major SBR spoilers

I've written this thread to discuss one of my favorite arcs in SBR and in all of animanga. This thread covers many aspects of the arc especially the top-tier antagonist Ringo Roadagain.
Topic 1: First encounters
Gyro and Johnny encounter Hot Pants and immediately engage in battle. This causes a sense of distrust between both parties, and their interactions also add to the already present tension.
After venturing deeper into the forest, Gyro and Johnny figure out the secret of the word “TURBO” which forces them to rush to Kansas City and creates a sense of urgency and suspense.
Another factor that contributes to the urgent mood is Diego Brando, because he is a potential threat who possesses the left eye, and he could be heading to the next corpse part already.
Johnny and Gyro realize that they are going in circles around this mysterious house. Hot Pants appears again, but to our surprise, she tries to gain the trust of Johnny and Gyro, causing confusion and creating situational irony.
Due to her past actions, they are very suspicious of the sudden change of tone. After describing the situation, and the possibility that it might be the cause of the stand user, Gyro and Johnny agree to join forces temporarily with Hot Pants and Gaucho,
a man who is also lost in the forest. A new character, Ringo, finally appears and describes this “phenomenon” as the cause of the endless loop.
Topic 2: Comedic Relief
This arc is one of the most suspenseful arcs in SBR, Gyro’s famous “Eat shit asshole, fall off your horse” lightens the mood, and shows how Gyro is taking this situation lightly at first.
Topic 3: Ringo’s Backstory
Ringo was born with a disease that causes his skin to be extremely fragile to the point that a minor scratch would pose a threat to his well being. He was also raised without a father due to war drafting.
His father escaped the front lines and was jailed. He, later on, died from illness in jail. Ringo was left alone to protect his family at such a young age. Around the age of 10, Ringo encountered a burglar that killed his entire family. The burglar attempted to rape Ringo,
but Ringo shot and killed him. This traumatic event caused Ringo to enter the “True Man’s World” and that was the turning point of his life. Ringo felt a sense of relief after that incident which cured his illness and filled him with a sense of righteousness.
This event is the main reason Ringo pushes himself to the fullest in duels to “better” himself. He believes that the only way to “better oneself” is through a fair duel.
Topic 4: Ringo’s Actions
Ringo believes his actions are most righteous because he pushes himself and his opponent to a better version of themselves. We see this present in his fight with Gaucho where Ringo gives tips to Gaucho to maximize the fairness of this duel.
The sense of relief Ringo feels after “bettering himself” is his main objective in fighting these duels. His actions also lead to Gyro’s entry to the “True Man’s World”.
Topic 5: Ringo’s Stand
His stand, Mandom, rewinds time to exactly 6 seconds prior, this allows Ringo and his opponent to push themselves to their limit so the victor can enter the “True Man’s World”,
and it also allows Ringo to maximize fairness by undoing the wrongdoings of his opponents. His stand is also not of the overpowered type, but rather of the support type which means that he doesn’t get an overwhelming advantage over his opponents.
In addition, the stand affects both Ringo and his opponents, which ensures that the fight stays fair and gives a chance for both Ringo and his opponents to better themselves (as mentioned in topic 4). Therefore, Ringo’s stand is a perfect representation of his soul and beliefs.
Topic 6: Gyro vs. Ringo
Gyro vs. Ringo is a back and forth battle between two forces that add to the suspense and tension by each passing round, and the audience is excited to know how Gyro is supposed to beat Ringo IF he ever beats this formidable opponent in the first place.
Each round Gyro gets more and more frustrated which pushes him to his limits, and we reach the climax. As Ringo and Gyro both reach their deadliest stage, they put everything on the line.
After Gyro beats Ringo, Ringo welcomes Gyro to the “True Man’s World”, which means Gyro has moved on to the next phase of his life, and entered a world filled with endless duels and battles.
This world will inevitably lead to death, just as what happened with Ringo, and that foreshadows Gyro’s death in D4C: Love Train arc.
Opinions: The True Man’s World is one of the best-written pieces of modern literature I have ever experienced, The way Araki shaped the entire story from this 4-5 chapter arc is beyond any level of writing I have consumed.
I HEAVILY recommend this series to anyone because this is one of the best things I’ve read. Thank You Araki.
Thank you if you made it this far we have put a lot of effort into this, and SBR is something I am very passionate about. RT’s are appreciated!! Thank you.
