0/ At 19, I locked in a Goldman Sachs Investment Banking offer.

I was an immigrant kid with zero connections.

This is how I did it. A thread 👇👇
1/ Tip #1: Thoughtful. Cold. Emails.

Stop sending these generic walls of text:
2/ Spend 5 minutes building shared affinity and rapport with your recipient. It'll 10x your conversion.
Tip #2: Do your homework on the firm, and showcase your knowledge within the context of “why you?”
4/ Be a human being during informational interviews.

Don’t jump right into asking your rote networking questions - build an authentic rapport first.

This will lead to finding mentors who will champion your recruiting success.🤝
Tip #3: Leverage your champions for warm introductions.

Even as an overworked analyst, I was always happy to help out a prospect I had connected well with - getting a warm intro is way easier than sending 50 cold emails!đź“©
Tip #4: Know the firm’s values, and resonate with them.
7/ This all assumes you’ve covered your table stakes: a polished resume, ability to hold interesting conversation, & knowing your technicals cold.📊

Be able to talk about the underlying drivers / mechanics of finance, as opposed to just memorizing the formulas.
8/ DM me if you’re looking for any more advice / tips.

I remember just how tough the process was and am happy to help in any way! You got this.
