Hypothesis continued: that's because radical left is drawn mostly from intermediate classes (as it has been for a long time) & so it is harder to get "out" to people from dispossessed classes without intentional work. Need to break out of social scenes

"Intermediate classes" (plural) is used intentionally here. There are many places one can be other than the very top or very bottom.

But relatively speaking...there are hundreds of millions more at the bottom than in "the middle".
