1984 is only "Stalinist" in the sense that, through a fictional story, it puts the horrifying consequences of Stalinism on full display. Same with Attack on Titan and fascist ideologies. (2/7)
Both tell tales of how authoritarian rule, through its poisoning of minds with twisted and dehumanizing ideologies, leads to endless cycles of bloodshed, oppression, and human suffering. (3/7)
Furthermore, like how 1984's scathing political commentary applies to much more than just Stalinism, Attack on Titan is much more than merely a critique of fascism. It's one of the reasons why I hold these two works in high regard. (4/7)
