In honour of Bisexuality Awareness week, heres some statistics about Bi week, why they matter and why we need to start funding/open more organisations for bisexuals. Open this thread or you're stinky.
49.3% of bisexual women are victims of severe physical intimate partner violence. Bisexual women have a 61.1% lifetime prevalence of rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. We have the highest rates of intimate partner violence.
Bisexual women have a 46% chance of being forcibly raped. This rate is 2.6 times higher than straight women and 3.5 times higher than lesbian women.
Bisexual women also have a 75% chance of being coercively raped or sexually assaulted. This rate is 1.7 times higher than straight women and 1.6 times higher than lesbian women.
Nearly half of bisexual men are sexually abused and assaulted. They have the highest numbers of sexual abuse, higher than any monosexual.
The majority of bisexual men (79%) and most heterosexual men (99.5%) reported having only female perpetrators of intimate partner violence.

Now, you're probably asking what was the point of me listing out these statistics and it's because I want to explain a few things.
Biphobia exists, I don't know why I have to say this but apparently I do. And, no biphobia isn't just homophobia, because if that was the case, the LGBT+ community wouldn't be able to be biphobic? Biphobia is prejudice towards bisexuals, not only for the sga attraction but also -
for their *multigender attraction*, something the LGBT community is extremely guilty of whether you want to admit it or not.
Not only do we have to deal with homophobia from cishets but our lack or resources and representation towards our issues in the LGBT community has meant that bisexuals often feel out of place within the queer community.
Because of this bisexual people often believe that we should tolerate biphobia inside the community as a price to pay for even being allowed inside even though we make up a majority of this community and we are responsible for a lot of its history.
Whilst being in relationships we are targeted for our multigender attraction and we still deserve a place in the community whether we are in m/f relationships or otherwise. We don't suddenly turn straight once we enter a m/f relationship, this false idea of privilege is harmful.
This false sense of het privilege that we apparently have is what harms us, a lot. It's why our issues aren't seen as that serious and why we aren't seen as 'that' oppressed. This isn't about us wanting validation, it's about us having our issues taken seriously and not erased.
Bisexuals are hypersexualized and abused in relationships with abusers often using biphobic stereotypes (eg, cheating) to often excuse them abusing, fetishizing and degrading us.
So, stop with the generalisations, the jokes and the stereotypes. It's!! not!! cute!!
Another thing, bisexuals are less likely to out than their monosexual counterparts and this is because of the mispread of information, lack of funding and resources bisexuals in LGBT organizations receive, not to mention the stigma around bisexuality.
So I'm begging you, listen to bisexuals. Raise more awareness towards bisexuals. Our history and our activism in this community is extremely important to us and you cannot push us out of the spaces we helped build.
If you aren't bisexual, you have no right to talk about issues regarding bisexuals especially not our intercommunity issues. The least you should be doing is raising awareness, not injecting your disgusting takes into a community that is already marginalized and ignored.
Also, if you're bisexual (especially if you're bipoc I know we make up a lot of the bisexual community ) and you're struggling, then drop your cashapps, go fund me's or venmo's!! And if you wanna link threads or organizations please do.
Anyways on a more positive note, bisexuality is love regardless of gender, its not binary its a whole, sexy, fluid identity. Non binary bis exist, trans bis exist and BIPOC bis exist! I love u gals, guys and enbies ur so sexy!! you all get kithes

also thank you to @Bisexualbooks2 for giving me the idea of creating this thread and helping me put it together!!!
