The enigma that is RSS:
I am yet to come across any short thread which throws an accurate detail of what goes on in RSS. Over a series of threads, I will try to do my best to bring in its basic structure and how it expands its horizon to everything that matters. Thread begins. +

So, the first building block of RSS is a Sakha. It can be Pratah ( Morning) Sakha or Sayan ( Evening) Sakha. Where are the places that it can held and is being held, how do one find it , is the next question. So, here comes the next building block. +

To initiate a Sakha at any particular village, mohalla, or any place, ideally a Pracharak visits these places or a person who has attended a Sakha somewhereelse goes to that particular locality and starts it. +

Next is who are the people who attend it and what do they do? Naturally the person who starts Sakha first brings in his family and friends. What do they do? At a particular time ( say 5 a.m in the morning) everyone assembles and sakha starts.+

Each Sakha has a Sakha Pramukh. It's important to create a heirarchy and let the responsibilities flow in naturally. See, the first seed of leadership in a person starts from here. What is his responsibility?+

He is the person who does the priliminary level of networking, purely on the basis of his personality. He tries to bring in more people to Sakha. There will be another person, who is Dhwaja Pramukh. Typically any Swayamsevak ( participants) can do that on any day. +

Now what are the timings? Typically it is for 1 hour. What is done in that 1 hour? A prayer at the beginning ( The famous " Namaste Sada Basthale") If u recite that prayer daily, believe me it will be difficult to be corrupt at any part of ur life later on. +

The prayer is followed by Surya Namaskar with Shlokas 13 times, Asanas, Few self defence techniques, some game and 10 to 20 min boudhik ( this is the crucial part) +

In a boudhik typically the topic of discussion is prechosen. See, the debates and GD s that u attend at 21 yr is introduced to a child at an early age ( age is not a barrier on who can attend the Sakha) +

Now, this is the basic structure, which takes care of individual's physical and mental development. In addition,Sakha Pramukh is not a permanent post. It is easily flexible and anyone can take it up. Ideally the most active person remains Sakha Pramukh.

Now, if u analyse this, u will find when u pay money nowadays to some instructor to teach u Yoga or make u do Surya Namaskar, these things are introduced free in hinterlands of this country. How does it play stole in making a citizen a responsible one, that's for another day. Gn

More: 24/12/2020: So, having gone through the structural basics, let's have some understanding on its emotional boundaries. One more thing to add is, the participants of the Sakha are known as Swayam sevaks, the name suffice that it's voluntary. +

Let's now understand what binds the Swayamsevaks together. Sakha's theme is centered around "Rashtra" ( english equivalent is country). While country denotes geographical boundaries, Rashtra encompasses emotional and geographical boundaries both. +

This is also another reason why RSS men are emotional about Akhand Bharat. The word Rashtra carries more weightage than the English equivalent country. Each song, prayer is themed around Rashtra. So, it's like Swayamsevaks do Rashtra Aradhana ( worshipping the country) everyday+

Now imagine when people bond over wines, cigars and materialistic pleasure, here are a bunch of young, old and kids who bond over Suryanamaskar, discussion about the country, some game either at the morning dawn or at dusk , cool isn't it? +

In the due course,when u are being primed to think beyond yourself, you also find that nobody asks you about your caste and bank balance. Equality, accessibility, acceptance of each other all bundled up together. +

Now what do they do other than doing all of the above. Most of the times, they carry out social services in the near vicinity. This is also the reason why you immediately find them at any locality ever and wherever the tragedy strikes. +

Now, when people say why don't RSS send it's volunteer to do this or that? It's because it's a voluntary organisation. No registration nothing. Anyone can come in and go out at any point of time. How and why it expands to political arena, some other day, gn.
