FIRE EMBLEM MAP THEME TIER LIST. OBJECTIVE. A THREAD.
#122: Winds Across the Plains (FE7)

LMFAOOOOOOOOOO
#121: Young Light (FE12)

Imagine you're a first time FE12 player. Your friends say this game has the best gameplay in the franchise. Prologue 1. Player Phase. You see your cav Kris. You see that DSFE green grass. And THAT fucking hook is the first thing you hear. Disappointing
#120: Shadows approach (FE8)

We forgot to rank this song. I wish it stayed that way.
119. Storm Clouds (FE13)

It’s like if you forced grandpa to fuck: there is no climax.
118. Past Light (FE14)

This song and Far Dawn sound the exact fucking same. Next.
#117. Distant Roads (FE8)

This is a song that does nothing and goes nowhere. Call that shit the anti-viagra
116. Vanity Judge (FE14)

This song is just the danger theme from season 5 of Thomas and Friends. The only difference is that this song causes more accidents than the trains ever could.
#115. Shambhala (Area 17 Redux) (FE16)

Why is this in my Fire Emblem game? It's so fucking corny and not even good for a dubstep track. The beat has the audacity to drop a second time like bro gtab
#114. Far Dawn

The flute is like a steel beam going through my ears but it's not good enough to make me go deaf and stop listening to it
#113. Like Father, Like Son (FE9)

Going back, this was the track that made it painfully obvious that FE10's OST is that much better than FE9's. Those trumpets sound like they were made for a kid's show
#112. ID~ Purpose (FE13)

This song is like an ice cream cone you dropped on the sidewalk. You were so excited for this track to be this exciting and triumphant masterpiece, but this shit is just the final Awakening L. 1/10
#111. Liberation (FE3/12)

This is like the first fe6 map theme but in reverse. Garbage
#110. Dwellings of the Ancient Gods (FE16)

This isnt even a song. Its just noise
#109. Beyond the Sky (FE6)

This is the first FE6 map theme. You know the one. VERY glad that when you look up "beyond the sky" the first result is Xenoblade and not this garbage
#108. Quiet burn (FE14)

I thought this was a battle theme but it plays on the first map. L
#107. Distant Travels (FE7)

This song is synonymous with boredom and Marcus killing every enemy. It's as mundane as HHM itself
#106. Egdelwonk (FE14)

Thought this was just some wacky Rev track with a wacky Rev name but it's just Knowledge backwards which is such an L for creativity around the world
#105. Friendship and Adventure (FE7)

This is the goofiest thing you'll hear all day. It sounds like a Scooby Doo song
#104. No Justice (FE14)

A disappointingly uneventful map theme. If it weren’t for the bag pipes I would have forgotten what game this plays in.
#103. Knowledge (FE14)

Forgot what this was but it's just Egdelwonk but forwards which is such an L for creativity around the world
102. Woleb Tsap (FE14)

.gnos veR yppirt a rof eman veR yppirt A
.siht ot gninetsil erofeb pirt dab a dah I dab ooT
#101. For Whose Sake (FE4)

I guess it’s fitting for Ch. 9 but it has an odd rhythm that doesn’t fit with fighting massive hordes of Thracian wyverns.
#100. Follow Me! (FE8)

This song starts off just like Friendship and Adventure but afterwards it becomes pretty nice actually. Grandpa when he still had a teensy bit of fire left in him
#99. Prelude (FE13)

It sounds kinda nice but its boring lol. Continued tomorrow
Continuing!

#98. Land Below (FE14)

Shambhala but it's higher because it's not dubstep. I still physically cannot listen to this track for more than 8 seconds
#97 Shadows approach (FE7)

Nice creepy vibe but ultimately overshadowed by the FE6 version. Not much to say here
#96. In Search of the Victory - Searching the Enemy

SpOoOoOoPyYyYYyYYyYy but still a very generic fog of war theme. Why are none of these FoW tracks special
#95. Advance (FE3/12)

This song is okay but makes me think of Chapter 3. Massive L
#94. Change of Scenery (FE9)

It suits Oliver and it changes pace well enough, and you can probably listen to it if you want, but literally nothing about it is memorable
#93. Dragon Knights of Thracia (FE4)

This song starts out unfittingly goofy-sounding with antagonists like Bloome still around, but after about 25 seconds it becomes a more enjoyable track that puts you in an upbeat mood as you help Ced save Manster.
#92. Ike's Resolution (FE9)

It's basically Like Father, Like Son but better. It actually does something after 30 seconds! Woohoo!
#91. A Gathering of Storms (FE10)

After the weird intro, it's nice and airy, borderline Cloud City vibes. Unfortunately you'll probably never remember this track because FE10 changes themes like every chapter in Parts 1 and 2
#90. The Final Battle (FE8)

Feels like a worse version of Holy War: it’s about as short, but nowhere near as tense. Yet it does manage to feel as if victory is within reach. Everything from here on up is pretty much good
#89. Inescapable Fate (FE7)

A fittingly tense song with a nice build up and release, although being a bit repetitive brings it down
88. Shadows Approach (FE6)

Arguably the best version of this song. It’s a depressing track and properly sets the mood for FoW maps in 6, but the intro can get a little mind-numbing after a couple of listens.
#87. Dragons' Gate II (FE7)

It's pretty stale for a final map theme. Kinda sounds like you're banging your head against the door at points. But it does set the mood well enough.
#86. Road of Sorrow (FE10)

Very classic FE10. Wide array of instruments and melodies on display here. If only the intro wasn't... y'know, that
#85. Crossing the Desert (FE4)

The staccato bit in the background should not have played for the entire song. But beyond that there's a nice melody that's unique and fits the desert pretty well
#84. Tempest of Seasons (FE16)

The biggest reason why this isn’t higher is because this plays for literally every paralogue. The violin solo at the end is noteworthy, and there's a cool synth which shows FE3H's EDM influences clearly
#83 Beneath a New Light (FE6)

Upbeat and cheerful but incredibly out of place for the soon to be massacre. A step down from Within the Magnificent Nature
#82. Duty (FE13)

All things considered, this is a nice track. It feels like a more developed version of Prelude (as it should), and the way the horn, flutes and violins are used contributes nicely to the enjoyment of this song. After a minute though it gets a little dull.
#81. The First Fight (FE9)

VERY nice intro to this song, and it gets reused nicely around the minute mark. Feels iconic to FE9, but the melody afterwards isn't very interesting on its own.
#80 The Time to Act (FE11)

Triumphant trumpets and finely timed moments of rest make this song fit very well with Marth's retaliation. FE11 music only got better after this
#79. In Search of the Victory - Charge A (FE5)

This song is pretty fun, I like the heavy use of the snares in the background of the song (gives off a good militaristic feel), and the melody is nice. The use of the tuba was also a decent touch.
#78. Expedition (FE3/12)

This track's a much needed change of pace from the light-hearted Advance. In the FE12 version they tried to go for a Yoko Shimomura-type thing and fucking failed lol FE3 version kicks the teeth off of it
#77. Companions (FE7)

Like Distant Travels but better, with a nice feeling of hope through adversity and tension. One of FE7's better
#76. Precious Things (FE7)

This songs screams innocence, and the tasteful use of the tambourine complements that. It’s fitting for an earlygame map theme, and never plays enough to get old or annoying. Overall a delightfully lighthearted song.
#75. For Liberty (FE11)

The faster pace of this song sets it apart from FE11's other map themes. Surprisingly the DSFE soundfont doesn't hold it back that much, and it gets to be fairly diverse within its minute-long runtime.
#74 Past Below (FE14)

Super chill track, I love the watery feeling and mysterious vibes it gives off with the slower pace. Pretty good for not having much going on.
#73. One Who Carves a New History (FE12)

FE12's new songs are generally cooler than it's (at times.. interesting) re-imaginings of FE3's, and here's a good example. The midi horns at the very beginning keep you engaged, coupled with the key changes in the middle.
#72. Land of Promise (FE8)

At its simplest, this is Dragon's Gate II but significantly more sinister. The church organ adds to how unsettling it is at first, before going all-out in jammin' scale runs.
#71. Justice RIP (FE14)

The intro feels serene yet suspenseful, and the song overall conveys a sense of determination/looking to the future, becoming one of the more tasteful tracks in Birthright.
#70. End of All (FE14)

It has many highs and lows. Not a big fan of the singing and far from my favorite final map theme. But it's still good
#69. Dance in the Skies (FE4)

Super comfy christmas song, the jingles really add to it. Nice.
#68. Proud Fight (FE10)

Normally this would be a pretty average song, but it gets FE10 privilege which means it gets to be arranged and produced excellently
#67. Far Away (FE14)

This is an extremely sinister track, which plays for one of the most important chapters in Birthright. The ominous intro emphasizes this feeling the most, but then it makes you aware of how much is on the line when it gets close to the loop.
#66. Praise This Despair (FE15)

Imposing chanting, intense drums and an opera singer going off. This song is pretty chaotic and is an excellent reflection of Berkut's state of mind.
#65. Dark Wastes (FE14)

This track has a cool Celtic influence that makes it colorful. This song is a perfect introduction to Conquest's European styled music, and incorporates the main theme of Fates uniquely. Chapter 10 feels empty without it.
#64. Rise Above (FE8)

Juxtaposed against the intensity of Determination, the more somber tone of Rise Above gives a glimpse into Eirika's mind as she travels through Carcino and Jehanna. It's very melodic, and would probably be a lot higher if it weren't for the GBA's soundchip
#63. Greil Mercenaries (FE9)

Good for path of radiance but decidedly above average. It fits in the maps that feature it. Not much to say about this track
#62. Determination (FE8)

Ephraim's venture into the belly of the beast isn't supposed to be an easy one for him [nevermind fe8's difficulty level], well reflected by his map theme's fast pace and loud MIDI brass section
#61. Dusk Falls (FE14)

In contrast to End of All, this is strong among first map themes but falls short otherwise. Marks the upper half of the list!
#60. Alight (FE14)

Deserved to be in a more memorable game. And I deserved to be in a group that wouldnt underrate this so hard
#59. Dark Traveler (FE10)

SWANKY first chord. Perfect for trekking through a desert with your boyfriend, a dog, and the rest of the gang to look for the abandoned prince of your overthrown country
#58. Conviction (FE10)

This song is a culmination of part 1's ever-changing map themes. It delivers on so many fronts, but isn't the best among it's peers
#57. A Battle and a Beginning (FE9)

The intro for this song is great, and maintains the same sense of youthful innocence that the first FE9 maps did. At the same time, it has an extremely catchy melody that leads nicely into the loop of the song. Great use of the marching drums.
#56. Hymn of the Righteous (FE10)

With a gorgeous opening note, this is a relaxing song that puts on nice display the beautiful orchestra of FE10. While it doesn’t go anywhere, it never really has to, maintaining a mostly serene and calm theme throughout the track.
#55. Chaos (FE13)

A very ambient track that's also super evil-sounding, perfect for the anthem of a suicide cult. It's like Dwellings of the Ancient Gods but much better
#54. Destiny (FE13)

The trumpets in the intro establish the mood of the song nicely. The song itself maintains serene elements from the first couple of Awakening map themes while also sliding in a bit of urgency as the story gets deeper.
#53. Crimea Attacks (FE9)

A new army under new orders- this time to march through Daein. This song's a great showcase of Yoshito Sekigawa's compositional style, mixing perfectly between intensity and intrigue with great dynamic.
#52. Glory/Ruin (FE14)

I forgot this track existed but I only needed to listen to it once to remember it's a banger. Menacing intro, and when the piano comes in at about 2 minutes in I get classic OCRemix vibes. A song that you can kill your dad but also dance to
#51. In Search of the Victory - Base (FE5)

Base feels youthful, which is appropriate seeing how it’s the start of Leif’s adventure. The use of the SNES brass instruments adds to the innocence of the song, and makes it an enjoyable listen overall.
#50. In Search of the Victory - Charge B (FE5)

This song is climactic and imposing, like its forcing you to make a decision. Will you berserk Reinhardt or get destroyed by him? Only you can decide
#49. Truth, Despair, and Hope (FE8)

Song designed to make you feel things. The somber-ness of Rise Above is there, but so is the intensity of Determination. Symbolism!
#48. Within the Magnificent Nature (FE6)

Sounds like a march through a blizzard. Very dark, but with just the right amount of heroism. Even IS didn't want you to go to Sacae
#47. Congregation of Ambition (FE9)

Ike's (first) journey's end. A 17 year old with a cool sword up against insurmountable odds, made music.
#46. Showdown in Doluna Keep (FE11)

This is an unparalleled mix of intensity and haunting. There are very few songs (Fire Emblem or not) that capture this exact feeling, making it very unique. I love the straight 4/4 beat as well, which is rare for a map theme in this series
#45. Fodlan Winds (FE16)

This would be the best song in some Fire Emblems, which is a testament to Three Houses' jaw-dropping OST (hint: expect to see a lot of it coming up). It's also like Apex of the World's little cousin
#44. Girl of the Spirit Forest (FE4)

This song feels so young, free and even adventurous. The beutifully melodic intro makes this the perfect song to meet the love of your life to.
#43. Thorn in You (FE14)

One of the most emotional songs in Fire Emblem. The violin and piano add so much to the soul-crushing feel of this song. Overall a beautiful track that is perfect for the maps it plays on.
#42. Unending Task (FE10)

The only word to describe this track is devastating. It resonates urgency and makes you feel alone, which is exactly what it should be aiming for. Whole world's stoned and the gang is all that's left, so have fun, I guess?
#41. Holy War (FE3/12)

A 30 second melody that somehow doesn't get repetitive. Probably the most tense map theme from the SNES era, and I'll never forgive FE12 for turning it into Bowser's Airship
#40. A Hero's Destiny (FE11)

This track follows the template of what a lategame map theme should be, by setting a grand stage for massive battles and reusing previous motifs. They managed to take Time to Act and make it unironically badass which is such a W
#39. Inheritors of Light (FE4)

After falling to the bottom you can't go anywhere but up. This song is incredibly hopeful and proud, exactly what was needed after the events of chapter 5.
#38. Divine Decree (FE13)

The choir in the background makes this feel incredibly suspenseful, and strongly conveys the sense of being at war. With its several changes of pace, it makes you feel as if you're truly in a do-or-die situation, especially with the varied instruments.
#37. March to Deliverance (FE15)

Great hook to start a song with, followed by a nice change of pace with an unexpected rock and roll groove behind it. Earlygame map themes don't have to go this hard, but we're always so happy to see it
#36. Tearing Through Heaven (FE16)

There isn't much to say about this song but its badass. Great example of 3H's style and a solid fit when it plays. Probably the coolest name on the list too which gives it a few bonus points
#35. A Funeral of Flowers (FE16)

Just outstanding. The song ranges from the slow violin early on, marked by tasteful phrasing and vibrato, to the reuse of Rhea's motif, marked by a virtuosic crescendo and massive orchestration. My friends are dumbasses for not putting it higher
#34. The Final Holy War (FE4)

One of the best intros to a map theme ever, this song absolutely hits on feeling like a final battle. It sounds very heroic, but also wistful at times. It's a song that just screams "This is it."
#33. With Mila's Divine Protection (FE15)

This song is so full of drama and action. The flute and violin go off big time on this one, and even when the pace slows down for a bit the strings in the background won't let up for a second. The pace is incredible
#32. For the Commanders (FE6)

Right from the get-go, this song is remarkably cohesive and intense, despite the GBA soundfont. It feels like a more suspenseful version of Distant Travels, and gets nowhere near as repetitive since it never plays past the Western Isles.
#31. Echoes of Daybreak (FE10)

Within the first 30 seconds of playing FE10 you can already tell it blows FE9's OST out of the water. From this song's first explosion, so to speak, it introduces so many conflicting vibes and motifs, setting it apart from other earlygame themes
#30. Endless Battle (FE12)

This theme manages to come across as relaxing, tragic, and heroic all at once- a prime example of why FE12's new themes are better than its old ones. Even if it's MIDI this is probably the coolest flute you'll ever hear
#29. Path of the Divine Generals (FE6)

This song screams finale and really sells what would otherwise be an unremarkable endgame. It's foreboding and sets an excellent tone to learn everything about The Scouring and save the world like your ancestors before you once did.
#28. Light and Dark (FE4)

After overcoming Travant, the wyvern triforce, and getting back Altena, the squad is all beefed up and ready to take back Chalphy. And this song perfectly reinforces the feeling of the worst being behind you which, I can definitely get behind.
#27. Eldigan the Lionheart (FE4)

This song is so cool. The maritime vibe is easy and also appropriate given the setting and enemy composition later on. Chapter 3 is one of the best in FE4 and this music is part of the reason why
#26. In Search of the Victory - Adversity (FE5)

Adversity is outright menacing. It makes you feel like you're fucked which is extremely fitting in the context of FE5. The SNES games have a ton of chill and heroic songs but this absolutely is NOT one of them
#25. In Search of the Victory - Leif (FE5)

We did it! We found the victory. Lessening the fearful impact of the Deadlords while also being fly as fuck, it truly makes you feel like victory is within your grasp, assuming you don’t get stoned mid-battle.
#24. Birth of a Holy Knight (FE4)

The most iconic prologue theme of any Fire Emblem game. It’s a simple song, but its so light-hearted and easy on the ears that you can’t hear this without being reminded of Sigurd ORKO-ing brigands.
#23. Blue Skies and a Battle (FE16)

The mock battle, which was NOT foreshadowing future events of 3H, was set to beautiful pedal-tone arpeggios and an intense techno riff. No one dies, and everyone has fun, but you're not just fighting for honor- there's a pizza at stake!
#22. Footsteps of Fate (FE11)

The amount of tension in this theme is unbelievable. This song perfectly captures the somber & helpless emotions Marth feels as he flees Altea and his sister. The arrangement adds a lot to the atmosphere, creating the darkest prologue in the series.
#21. The Sacrifice and the Saint (FE15)

It starts out incredibly desperate and you instantly know the pressure is on for Celica when you hear this song. and the way it incorporates the leitmotif giving a little bit of hope? Tight. It's like Chasing Daybreak's little brother
#20. Disturbance in Agustria (FE4)

Everyone complains about the length of Ch 2, but this song makes it a lot more bearable. It has a very relaxing flute, accompanied with a nice drum line in the background. It puts the player in high spirits and pretty much makes the chapter.
#19. Between Heaven and Earth (FE16)

Blame @StealingPotions for putting Blue Skies and a Battle so far below this even though it's the same song just with a different arrangement.

I'll just use the rest of this space to complain about 240 characters and 2:20 length videos
#18. The Long Road (FE16)

The Long Road is perfect at setting the mood. 3H's knack for interesting percussion and timbres is on display here, as well as its capacity for massive sounding drops. Everything comes together in what sounds like utter desperation. Hits different in BL
#17. Forbidden Sanctuary (FE12)

Is it serene or terrifying? I don't know. This song is unlike almost anything else in the series, and leaves you with many conflicting feels. But I know for a fact when you heard this at the bottom of Thabes' Labyrinth in Echoes you shat yourself
To be continued (and completed👁️👁️) in a day or two
#16. Road Taken (FE14)

One of the most relaxing map themes in the franchise. The guitar & piano amplifies this to the max, and the main part of the song introducing the string section fills the listener with nostalgic bliss and puts the mind at ease. Truly a beautiful track.
#15. Twilight of the Gods (FE15)

If SoV had to get right anything from Gaiden it was this song and by they definitely nailed it. Intense drums and trumpets, an amazing choir, and a violin that's almost crying. I think we all recall exactly where we were when we first heard this
#14. A Dark Fall (FE14)

I think when people say Conquest has better music than Birthright really they're just talking about how sick this one song is. Probably the single best thing to come out of Fates
#13. Don't Speak Her Name (FE13)

One of the most iconic songs in the series. It's chilling in the most beautiful way. The power of this track is taking what could have been an obscure map and making it one of the most memorable in the entire game
#12. Chasing Daybreak (FE16)

Post-timeskip you're immediately thrown into danger and desperation - this track being perfectly intense to match. It really makes the player feel pushed to the edge at all times. Huge fan of all of the key changes too
#11. Conquest (FE13)

The bongos in the intro are a small taste of the serenity to come. The violin following it adds to how relaxing it is, as well as the guitar afterwards. The changing chord progressions are a nice addition too. The best "Conquest" in the series for sure
#10. Lord of a Dead Empire (FE15)

Absolutely phenomenal singing from the lead, a choir to compliment him just right, and the orchestra's just trying to keep up with them. This track truly manifests not only Rudolf's presence but also his self-sacrifice for Valentia.
#9. Roar of Dominion (FE16)

This is Edelgard's theme- the theme of enacting her ideology through the besieging of Garreg Mach. Fittingly, it's backed by powerful drums, arpeggios, and massive sounding orchestrations. But no matter how this battle is framed, it's tragic. (1/2)
#9, cont:

This is the first moment in 3H where the fact that you have to kill your former students is worked with, and this song has the range to express that well. The wistful cello a minute in provides the perfect backdrop for the intensity and despair of this war. (2/2)
#8. Doors of Destiny (FE4)

It starts off similarly to Expedition from FE3, but evolves into something much more epic. The moment when it turns into a rendition of the first conversation theme gives me chills every time. Extremely eerie. (1/2)
#8, cont:

The marching snare in the back makes you feel like you're marching to your death, which is perfectly complementary to the events of chapter 5. It supplements the tragic atmosphere of this part of the game like few other themes can. (2/2)
#7. Ascent (FE10)

A song as intense as the setting it plays in. Two games and 800 years worth of conflict reaches a fever pitch with this track. It also made its way into The Last Promise, which is basically the greatest hits album of video game music. Says a lot if you ask me
#6. Bearer of Hope (FE10)

I shat myself the first time I played 2-E because of this song, definitely gets some bonus points for playing on the two coolest chapters in the game. The buildup and release in this song is unmatched and I don't think I'll ever get enough of it
#5. What Lies at the End (FE15)

I expected to hear the same deliverance riff in act 4 and was so glad to be mistaken. This track does absolutely everything, and the fact you can hear it all the way through the postgame is such a blessing. A masterpiece from top to bottom
#4. The Apex of the World (FE16)

This song feels emblematic of a new age of FE music. It's straight to the point in context - calling back to nearly all of 3H's main themes. Because of this there aren't many big surprises, but every part fits together very well. (1/2)
#4, cont:

3H's style of arrangement is on display here. Swelling orchestras (and even a beautiful opera part) carry the melody, while the beat underneath changes with each new idea. All of 3H has been building up to this song and I wouldn't change anything about it. (2/2)
#3. Eternal Bond (FE10)

If the intro alone doesn’t pump you up, I don’t think anything else will. The drums are super tasteful, and never call attention away from the melody. As the song progresses, it adds melancholy, being one of the several emotions this song conveys. (1/3)
#3, cont:

The track feels very ambitious, but also reserved and independent, which fits the Greil Mercenaries perfectly. Brawl got this right when they called it Ike's theme. Overall, I’m not sure there’s a better word to describe it than iconic. (2/3)
#3, cont:

All of the instruments come together to create a grand tune that is one of the most recognizable FE songs to date. If someone were to ask me what FE music sounds like, this would be my answer. Can't wait to hear it in the remake😏😏 (3/3)
#2. God-Shattering Star (FE16)

Dude... this is what having massive balls does to your voice. The vocals on this track can only be described as virtuosic. I think we all imagined Nemesis belting out the vocal from the other end of the map. No way it was just me (1/3)
#2, cont:

The intro instantly drills in your mind that this isn't your average final map theme. Ignore the singer for a second and listen to the strings and piano backing him up- your mind will be blown if you see that fully transcribed. Operatic heavy metal (2/3)
#2, cont:

This song completely changes what feels like every 30 seconds, but it always maintains that same sense of tension. Even though there are breathers where the bass mostly drops out, it comes right back in, and you're reminded that you don't have time to rest (3/3)
#1. A Grasping Truth (FE10)

More than anything, this song feels like a culmination of several Tellius themes. Whether it be powerful Gallian drums, the now unsettling Serenes harp, or the imposing Begnion brass, the track reminds you of your journey across Tellius. (1/3)
#1, cont:

The song's range is huge. It starts out climactic, and switches to a calm woodwind part, before the drums steal the show in one of FE's best musical moments. The orchestra comes back in, trumpets exploding, before cascading strings take you to the looping point. (2/3)
#1, cont:

All in all, this is an extremely unique track. While some other songs are imposing or menacing, this legitimately feels scary. And you absolutely should feel scared, given that God is alive, and they want you dead. A hell of a song for a hell of a final boss. (3/3)
And that's it! I hope my Tellius propaganda can get some kinda of a discussion going. My favorite part of FE is the music and I wish there was more discourse surrounding it.

If we got anything wrong go yell at @StealingPotions @PowerOfPursuit or @JDAldes. Or even me if you want!
