Evening News 8th March 1965.
Prior to the appearance of Davie Jones & The Manish Boys on BBC2 TV programme 'Gadzooks It's All Happening', Davie has a (slight) hair trim & set in a local hairdressers.
There has been some expert Bowie 'spin' & 'hype' about the bands long hair.. 1/2
2/3... prior to the programme. David was even interviewed by Cliff Michelmore on British TV about cruelty to long haired men! All Bowie spin of course!
Nevertheless 'The Society For Prevention Of Cruelty To Long Haired Men' does receive quite a lot of British press...
3/3...Davie and The Manish Boys record 'I Pity The Fool' for 'Gadzooks' on 5th March 1965, the performance is aired on 8th March 1965. The performance has since been wiped by the BBC.
Despite the press coverage, the single doesn't trouble the charts and flops.
