Thread - Is Cummings a genius or are we mugs?
The Human Rights act threat by Johnson is another classic Cummings distraction. It’s to take focus away from Johnson’s likely failure to get a deal from the EU and to pin the blame for that on the EU. It’s not a clever..

2/ ..tactic. It’s a bog standard political technique probably used by the ancient Greeks. It’s the only trick Cummings has, and they’ve played it continually since Johnson became PM.
The Thread below gives just some of the times it was used as cover since the #COVID19 outbreak: https://twitter.com/d_raval/status/1304043805822328832

3/ The effectiveness of the ‘distraction tactic’ depends on your opponents and the media buying the decoy. If they don’t, the thing you’re trying to cover up stands bold in the spotlight. If they do bite, you can hide your failure(s).
4/ Given this is Cumming’s ONLY trick, you would have thought that the media and Johnson’s opponents would have cottoned on to it by now. But no, it STILL works EVERY time. Every damn time.
5/ The mainstream media no longer critically review stories. They take any planted story by a “No.10 source” as bona fide. They never question the motives behind it, eg timing, never suggest it’s a distraction. The BBC are the worst suckers for this but they all do it.
6/ Johnson’s formal opponents are no better. There’s been a constant stream of Fib Dems, Labour and dissident Tory MPs biting and commenting on this alone, without highlighting the core issue or that’s it’s a distraction.
7/ Online activists are no better. My timeline is choker with many Left / socialist activists biting on the distraction hook, line and sinker. For all the outrage and the “dawn of fascism” stuff barely anything on the distraction and the bigger issue, the impending No Deal crisis
8/ Johnson’s opponents of whatever political shade, and the same applies to Trump’s, will always be on the back foot and unable to set their own agenda if they keep on biting hard on whatever distraction is thrown out. It’s actually easy..
9/ not to fall for this, it simply takes a bit of focus and discipline.
FOCUS: what should I be talking about? What are they throwing out to distract me from that?
DISCIPLINE: always ask that question first before reacting.
It is that simple but there again sense is common!
