in honour of this thread i am going to prune some followers by rating all the tardis interiors https://twitter.com/leomiklasz/status/1305164137165737985
1963: absolutely classic, and built on a budget of three ha'pennies out of paper mache and asbestos. iconic. 10/10
1971: dog shit. the walls are clearly just printed images. 0/10
1972: absolutely sick. totally iconic but too far ahead of its time and only made 1 appearance. 8/10
1976: it's very tardis classique but it's also beige as fuck. looks like a dell computer from 1992. 4/10
1977: elizabethan manor realness. so iconically deranged that i don't even care it's not got the lights that go up and down. 9/10
1978: dog shit. try having some new ideas. 1/10
1979: set manufactured as part of blue peter make. 0/10
ok all the 80s ones are shit so i'm jumping straight to the good shit: 1996's goth mansion. pioneers the lights that go up and down being connected to the ceiling in some way, has a fun pull-down CRT monitor. 10/10
2005 gives us the good shit. the tardis is now made of coral for some reason. the lights that go up and down are bigger than ever before. it's incredibly humid in a very cinematic way. 10/10
2011's take may have had powerful steampunk vibes but was nonetheless an absolute banger. absolutely screams production value. also had a fun pull-down monitor. 10/10
2012 brought is what i think is undeniably the GOAT. it was huge, had exciting lighting, had the big spinning rings at the top, the fact it was a complete set meant the directors clearly had a ball filming it from all angles. 20/10
which brings us to... this number from 2018. as much as i want to love it, it all looks like fibreglass, it's cramped, there is only one light in the middle and it goes up and down inconsistently. the steam projectors are cool as fuck though. 6/10
bonus entry - the war doctor's tardis. very clearly assembled from spare parts but i like that it's trying to give a nod to the tardis going from gleaming laboratory to a steampunk cave. 3/10
anyway as much as i pretend to be cool and sexy i actually have terminal nerd brain. if you gave me a million pounds i would build a fake tardis with buttons and switches that trigger exciting lighting sequences and i would never ever leave
if you gave me two million i'd put the whole thing on a pneumatic rig that shakes it about for that authentic "in flight" experience
actually i'm gonna knock a point off this bad boy because all of the controls are in english https://twitter.com/sky_traffic/status/1305172581134331904?s=20
