The unemployment rate for those with a college degree is currently 5.3%. This is higher than the peak during the Great Recession of 5%. Compare to those with less than a high school degree (at 12.6%). During the Great Recession it hit 15.8%...and was still at 12.6% in 2012.
College-educated workers have been hit harder than they're "used to" in this recession. The unemployment rate in August for this group was STILL higher than it had ever been prior to April.
Meanwhile workers at lower education levels struggled in the Great Recession, were starting to get the full benefits of a tight economy, and then got hit by a mack truck again.
