Dear well-meaning white parents who suggest microschools invite one low-income kid to join their microschool for free... Would y'all be willing to pay $50 / hr for a Learning Guide & drive your white child to a low-income neighborhood to join a microschool there?

I've been doing anti-racist work for 25 years. It is very, very difficult to deal with well-meaning white people right now with any degree of patience. The amount of stupidity I hear is flabbergasting. Like, do you hear yourself?

White people just do not grasp how deeply #Caste defined their lives are. I hear way too much Sally Struthers white savior stuff being thrown around. "Let's invite Black children to be friends with my white child because I want my white child to understand diversity!"

On the flip side, one person was bracingly honest with me. She lived in a very diverse neighborhood- one of the few in Seattle- & said that she didn't want her child associating with "those people" because she was afraid her child would pick up "their values" & "dance moves".

I said, "Did it ever occur to you that your neighbors might want to emulate your daughter?". Nope. Poverty & concentrations of melanin as moral failings is American gospel.
