The story of @WorthingRFC | A thread ⬇️

As part of #PitchUpForRugby and our celebration of grassroots clubs, we wanted to tell the story of one club that celebrated their centenary this week....

At 8pm on Friday 10 September 1920, a group of locals met and decided to start a club despite having no kit or equipment 🏉

2/6
The team began by playing their rugby on a local farmer's field by the sea 🌊🚜

And in 1927 the club's 🔵🟤🟡 colours were chosen which are still worn today...

3/6
The club moved to their new home in 1️⃣9️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ 🏘️ And over the next few decades they expanded, setting up a women's side and a huge minis and juniors section...

4/6
Some legends of the sport helped celebrate the club's centenary including former player @joelaunch 🌹

5/6
From their senior men's and women's teams all the way down to their minis, Worthing RFC has become one of the most successful in Sussex 🙌

Not bad for a club formed 100 years ago by a group of lads on a farmer's field by the sea...
