These days at times, Americans don’t like their own country- but I love the place and so here is a Sunday thread on the things that I utterly love about the US. #SundaySharing #Atmacharitra
I love the expanse, the empty space and the blue sky and defined seasons. US introduced me to the solitude in nature. Can’t forget that gorgeous and Grand Canyon. 2/n
I trekked the canyon in different seasons, drove alone and yet never felt lonely. Remember the early morning at the antelope canyon -drenching in the sunlight ! 3/n
At the University campus, loved and enjoyed the libraries. Encountered so many publications, authors, concepts and ways of comprehending the world through those meticulously curated libraries. Ever grateful for the conducive environment for the inquiry ! 4/n
And the US School gave me an opportunity to cultivate deep friendships. Ever grateful for those conversations that opened my heart and mind. 5/n
I could spend my Summers in NYC and DC - observing the way these cities moved and the power circulated. The best memory is that if taking a train from Boston to Flagstaff with stopovers in NYC and Chicago- transversing the country. 6/n
The US gave me a space to explore my intellectual voice, it assured that I was safe while being alone and while being radical. There is an action-bias in the US air, that I loved. 7/n
My activist friends worked for Prison Reforms and for migrants who crossed the desert in AZ. I drove around with them. And also witnessed the life at the reservations. 8/n
I was mentored by extraordinary professors at the school. The university-towns are the best places in the US. 9/n
MET, MOMA, Museums, Artists, Authors- US was an aesthetic treat! Walking in Cambridge in the evening in the Fall, a windy morning in the Cape Cod, a late afternoon at Ojai, unending poetry during the long drives, unforgettable beauty of Muir woods- it was unforgettable! 10/n
It was a six year long journey into the space that offered me so much to learn! The US was a gift of the open space to explore life! 11/12. #AtmacharitraPure
For an inquisitive mind - the grand design of a US University is a gift- that’s how the higher education should be designed and the US has cracked the code! #SundaySharing 12/12
