I've been thinking a lot about movements a d how to deal with a big problem that occurs in them.
A problem I will deem 'silly buggers'.
These are the people who turn up at the fringes of movements, are disliked by majority but barge their way into taking up space.

Generally these groups will have ideals that fall in line 80% with the group but the 20% is either abhorrent or undermines the group in some way.
And these people will not be understanding about the distaste for that 20%

They'll get angry, defensive and insist if you don't agree with that 20% then YOU aren't a true believer in the cause
And that's how they get people to shut up and let them take over.

Yeah, obviously I'm alluding to the pro-ship thing I deleted but it's not exclusive to that.
When you think of Vegans, do you think of Vegans that do their best to educate and inform and help convince people to convert?
Or do you think of fucking PETA?

PETA don't do anything to help their cause but they're very good at acting like they do.
And whether or not they truly cared about animals... The fact they hurt their cause more than help it is kind of the point.

And the truth is the best way to deal with these silly buggers is to shut them down. If they won't shut up, ask them to leave and if they won't do that, make them leave.
Don't harrass. Don't get violent. Just remove them. Block. Ignore.

Let them have that floor to start getting people to listen and think 'well maybe we should let them stay' and they'll burrow in and you'll never get rid of em.

And this is all assuming these silly buggers actually hold these beliefs and aren't just using the 80% to find acceptance for the abhorrent 20%.

Anyway, just be careful and don't feel you have to accept people who loudly proclaim things you find uncomfortable or immoral.
