An illustrated thread to explain why you should ship Hosie:
When Alaric told (antisocial) Hope to make a friend, she instantly set her sights on Josie.

Hope didn't seem interested in building a friendship with anyone else.
In this scene, Josie rejected Hope's attempt to establish a friendship due to their complex history.

Instead of giving up, Hope tried again & left a necklace under Josie’s pillow as a gift for her birthday.
Hope consistently does not give up on Josie.

In the Dark Josie arc, Hope believed in Josie’s capacity for redemption the most (besides Alaric).
Others saw Hope's confidence in Josie as unwise.

If Hope suspected anyone of making a plan that might end up getting Josie hurt, she simply got rid of them.
Hope was incapable of harming/fighting back against Josie’s dark side.

Dark Josie was holding back, as well, and was enraged when Hope pointed it out.
Hope was the only one capable of bringing out Josie’s good side.

Hope revealed the extent of her (otherwise introverted) admiration of Josie in the process.
Hope was the only one to never demonize Josie’s darkness (including Josie herself).

When Hope saw Josie’s “darkness” in the Mora Miserium, her first thought was “it’s actually kind of beautiful”.
Hope entered Josie’s mind to save her, but her only plan was to Josie’s shift perception of her own dark side & teach her self-acceptance.
Hope has saved Josie's life on multiple occasions.

She took a bullet for Josie, saved Josie from being buried alive, saved her from the prison world, etc.
Hope is more or less physically invulnerable, but she has emotional weaknesses.

Josie brought back everyone’s memories of Hope, saving her from the misery that came from not being remembered by those she loved.
Hope sees Josie as an equal.

One of Hope's flaws is her tendency to use people only as pawns in her plans, but Josie is the one Hope relies on when she needs help executing a plan.
One of Hope’s biggest insecurities is the fear of seeming weak, but she allows herself to be emotionally vulnerable with Josie.

Hope goes out of her way to show her feelings to Josie. She brings them up for discussion. She doesn't do this with anyone else (except maybe Lizzie).
Hope exerts tighter control over her anger when she's speaking with Josie and tends to aim it inward (even when Josie tries to provoke her).

Hope shows less control over her anger when her efforts to keep Josie safe are frustrated.
When Josie revealed that she had a crush on Hope, all of Hope’s anger about Josie accidentally lighting a fire in Hope’s room disappeared, even though the fire destroyed a painting Hope had made with her Dad.
Josie behaves differently with Hope.

Although she's otherwise quiet & blends into the background, Josie is directly confrontational with Hope.

She is forthright with Hope where she is passive-aggressive with others.
Josie opens up to Hope in a way that she rarely does with anyone else.

She tells Hope about her feelings and her perspective, even though she has a tendency to shy away from that when she communicates with other people.
They have similar psychological defenses.

They both have habits of masking their true emotions—Hope does so with anger (or a cold mask), while Josie deflects attention to the emotions of others.
The tendency to repress their emotions causes both of them to sometimes have uncontrollable compulsions toward revenge.

These similar stress responses cause them to understand each other automatically—"kindred spirits".
They have similar values—both are driven to care for those they love. Hope protects those she loves, while Josie attempts to anticipate their needs.

Both have martyr complexes, prioritizing those they care for above themselves to the point of being self-destructive.
They have opposite fears.

Josie is afraid of becoming too powerful and causing damage to those she cares about.

Hope is afraid of seeming weak.
By example, Hope shows Josie strength as a virtue & Josie shows Hope empathy/emotional vulnerability as a virtue.

The combination of their contrasting fears & their admiration for each other has the potential to provide them both with massive character growth.
They prioritize each other’s happiness when it comes to decision making.

Hope remained silent, because she was afraid that it would ruin Josie’s happiness & cause Josie to hate her if she told everyone who she was.

Hope would’ve left the school if Josie had asked her to.
Josie brought everyone’s memories back even though she knew that it would ruin her relationship with Landon because it was in Hope’s best interest.
Despite her usual apathy toward how others see her, Hope genuinely cares about Josie’s opinion of her.

Dark Josie was aware of this and taunted her for it.
They use every possible excuse to hold hands.
Hope’s expression visibly softens every time she makes eye contact with Josie.

Here’s a collage of Hope immediately before and after making eye contact with Josie:
Josie looks at Hope like this:
Josie makes Hope smile like this:
They’re simply cute
The end.

(This was so long but it wasn’t comprehensive, I can think of ~ten more points off the top of my head 🙃)
