Two scenarios:
1) France right now with containment (got hospitals ready, masks, tests etc) & the vulnerable practicing basically lock-down themselves to be careful while rest move around to mitigate impact;
2) Everyone endures lock-down.

In both scenarios, the vulnerable would behave the same because if u are vulnerable, u’d take extra precautions because by nature u are exposed to all sorts, Covid included & even a common cold.
The question is then what is the least costly for society?

We have some family members that are vulnerable & under both scenarios (general lock-down + containment), they would behave the same, which is limiting public exposure & spending time at home & requiring at risk contacts to quarantine.
Look at the deaths in Spain with raging cases, very very low.
Even if u say deaths lag, they will be low.
And so, if people catch the virus early, recovery or asymptomatic, should we still panic over the cases the same way when the infected were already critically ill in March?

The reason why we had massive fatality in Western Europe & the US is that we didn’t protect our vulnerable & in some cases infect them by sending infected back up nursing homes.
Now we know better. But why do Americans behave regarding cases the same way if impact different?

If they are not hospitalised (meaning asymptomatic or not severe), then why the panic?
These high risk individuals should be quarantined when they see at risk grandparents.

Covid-19 is a virus & a risk. Like all risks, once u understand more about it, you behave accordingly to minimise risks & maximise return.
Don’t only focus on minimising risks just to be alive & have nothing else. Why live if the whole pt is to be alive just to wait for death?
