2. In the earlier stages, would-be tyrants use compliance to identify future troublemakers: the many will reflexively comply with anything the authority figure commands (what do you think all those years of schooling in "success by regurgitation" are for?).
3. Only trouble-makers ask questions and want reasons to comply. The 'front row kids', those most thoroughly invested in the fantasy that they're smart & open-minded because they pleased Teacher, will parrot the approved authority figures and call it 'critical thinking'.
4. They are useful idiots. They react to those who question as to heretics: those who refuse to parrot the authority figure challenge their self-image as the most enlightened, moral, & intelligent ppl EVER. That they might be wrong is an existential threat never to be permitted.
5. So we are treated to the spectacle of the scientifically & historically illiterate denouncing any challenge to, say, climate change or the COVID madness without the slightest grasp of what might even constitute evidence. Compliance is all that matters - it defines intelligence

8. What's happening now, and has been for 3 years: the demands will get more & more outrageously stupid, and more and more vitriol will be poured on any who fail to comply. And the demands will constantly mutate, because what's important is compliance, not consistency.
9. That's what's behind the only racists restrict travel from China/flatten the curve!/no mask/lockup/masks/partial opening/re-lockup/180 days of 15 days to flatten the curve, etc. If you notice the insane inconsistency or want to balance risks, you're a bad guy, stupid and evil!
10. If you notice the WHO & CDC long have had detailed pandemic response plans in place (as one would certainly hope!), plans that would classify this outbreak as minor & rejected lockups & masks even in severe outbreaks, you're EVIL, a monster & a murderer! Comply, don't think!
