We've been conditioned over decades to regard criticisms of #capitalism as hopelessly idealistic or crankish, and to accept #capitalism as the only realism. 1/-

#capitalism numbs us with baubles and gewgaws. Phones, cars, flights. It lures us into spending large portions of our small pay packets on ever more #stuff. It keeps us just well enough off to go on buying. 2/-

#capitalism charges us stupid amounts for rent and mortgage, because few of us have alternatives. They get rich on our low wages and high housing costs. They keep us "happy" through tv and films, they keep us divided through MSM campaigns - EU, refugees, etc. 3/-

#capitalism doesn't want us educated, and deliberately leaves us unable to think for ourselves or to understand the workings of the system they tell us is #democracy . 4/-

#capitalism extracts minerals they don't own, from countries whose inhabitants will never see any of the proceeds, and who will suffer the poor working conditions and careless abandonment of the site. 5/-

#capitalism discharges wastes into the commons - air, land, water - without control or cost, causing air pollution, #ClimateChange , river and ocean pollution. 6/-

#capitalism squeezes the life out of our soils, burns our forests, kills our insects and animals, our birds and our fish, when they get in the way of "development". 7/-

This is the realism of #capitalism . It's a realism that's killing us through #inequality #pollution #ClimateChange . It's a realism that has hollowed out #democracy . It's a realism that is demonstrating increasingly openly its utter contempt for the rest of us. 8/-

We've been told time and again there is no "enemy" when fighting #climatechange. I'm telling you there is, and it's the same enemy in the fight against inequality, biodiversity loss, the hollowing out of democracy. The enemy is #capitalism
