The Legacy of The Sword of Allah Sayyidna Khalid Ibn e Waleed RadiAllah Anhu and the Secret behind his invincibility! [Thread]

Hazrat Khalid bin Walid was inarguably the greatest general ever to walk this Earth. He was the ace general of the early Muslim rulers.

His military career was brief but enough to establish him as a brilliant general who not only rivaled the likes of Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar, & Alexander the Great but outshone them.

Without his unparalleled military exploits Islam as we know it today would not have existed. His victories were instrumental in the unification of Arabia and later he successfully led the Muslim Arab armies against the formidable Sasanian and Byzantine Empires.

Khalid is one of the few generals in history to have never lost a pitched battle. Indeed, he emerged the victor in every single one of the 50 or so large scale battles he fought against the Apostate tribes, Christian Arabs, Sasanian Empire and Byzantine Empire.

The enemy outnumbered him 90% of the time and always had the advantage in quality of arms and armour. That he prevailed against such odds was due only to his superb generalship.

Khalid was also one of the first generals in history to use psychological warfare. He had formed a band of elite warriors, the mubarizun (champions), tasked with seeking out and killing officers of the enemy army to render it leaderless.

Khalid himself would often challenge the opposing commander to a duel. A clever ploy as refusal would cause him to lose face in front of his soldiers and acceptance would mean certain death at the hands of Khalid.

Additionally, whenever he received reinforcements Khalid would order them to join his army in multiple groups and in spread out formation to give the enemy the impression that more troops were coming than there actually were.

Now there was also a secret behind the success of Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed RadiAllah Anhu which is often ignored as most people are unaware of it. Let's read the following Athaar(report) which explains the secret.

“The helmet of Khaalid ibn Al-Waleed fell off his head during the Battle of Yarmouk, so he shouted, ‘My helmet! May Allah have mercy upon you (people)!’ A man from his people who was from the Banu Makhzoom tribe picked it up and handed it to him, so Khalid took it & wore it.

Then afterwards it was said to him, ‘You were in such a condition in battle, and you insisted on finding your helmet!’ Khaalid said, ‘When the Prophet shaved his head in the Farewell Hajj, I took some of his hairs.

Prophet ﷺ asked me, 'What are you going to do with those, O Khaalid?' I replied, 'I will seek blessings from them, O Messenger of Allah, and I will seek their help in fighting my enemies,'

The Prophet ﷺ said , 'You will be victorious as long as they are with you,' so I kept them in the front of my helmet. I never confronted an enemy except that they were defeated with the blessings of the Messenger of Allah. Then he fastened them with a red band… ”

This incident has been recorded by several Muhadditheen, viz. Imaams al-Tabrani [ra], al-Haakim [ra], Abu Nu’aym [ra] and Abu Ya’laa [ra]. Hafiz Haythami [ra] states that all the narrators are reliable and authentic. (Majmauz-zawaaid vol.9 pg.349).

Such incidents are not rare among the Sahaba. In fact, Allah has recorded the incident of Sayyidna Yusuf Alahis Salam in the noble Qur’aan in which the mention of Sayyidna Yaqub's Alahis Salam sight being restored through the shirt of Sayyidna Yusuf Alahis Salam is mentioned.

Obviously, it is only Allah that causes such effects in these items, and for one to believe otherwise is extremely detrimental for one’s Imaan. The Relics and The Personal Belongings of The Prophets Alahim Salam are a Blessed Waseela through which Divine Will occurs.

An important point to remember here is that Sayyidna Khalid Ibn Waleed RadiAllah Anhu saw nothing wrong with seeking Blessings from the Blessed Hair but instead had Faith that Allah when Honor him due to his love for the Hair of the Prophet ﷺ.

Now let's take a look at some of the awe-inspiring quotes by Sayyidna Khalid Ibn e Waleed RadiAllah Anhu.

"Submit to Islam & be safe. Or agree to the payment of the Jizya (tax), and you and your people will be under our protection, else you will have only yourself to blame for the consequences, for I bring the men which desire death as ardently as your desire life"

"When I'm in battlefield, I love with more than wedding the most beautiful woman"

And First Caliph Abu Bakr Sideeq RadiAllah Anhu said regarding Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed RadiAllah Anhu: "Women will no longer be able to give birth to the likes of Khalid bin Waleed".(Ibn Kathir)
