it’s also (spoiler alert) very rarely abt health
if ur d*ctor is telling you to lose weight you need a second opinion. i am so serious. very few physicians have any nutrition/diet training and the shit they do get is so outdated. take it from someone who has been receiving nutrition therapy for almost two years now
if ur losing weight “randomly” take a close look at what’s really going on— have you been eating more balanced meals or have you been restricting? check ur “balance” facts: are you really getting appropriate nutrition or are you only eating “”healthy food””
if there haven’t been any “normal” changes in ur diet or exercise or hormones don’t just think weight loss is a “blessing” CHECK THAT SHIT OUT IT COULD BE A SYMPTOM OF SOMETHING BAD
if u were legit worried abt ur health u would not be tracking numbers. there is no good reason to buy a scale. if ur legit worried that ur diet is malnourishing/“”unhealthy”” then get advice from a registered dietician (internet resources if u can’t afford therapy) don’t restrict
like y’all i cannot express how INSANELY worrying it is to see so many of my sibs talking abt their weight loss/gain during quarantine bro you literally can’t be “”addicted”” to carbs or sugar stress and reduced physical activity impact our bodies UR OKAY
listen im a standard sized white person so im not going to go the route of “i learned to love my socially validated body and so can you” one year out of recovery i barely manage to be body neutral most days this isn’t abt bodi posi this is abt STAYING ALIVE
just babies. we have all been brainwashed to find weight loss so positive. but it’s not. if ur grinding to lose weight you should not be you should be enjoying your body and your life and participating in joyful movement and eating things that nourish you
calorie restriction is LITERALLY TORTURE. i’m too worked up to find the links but if ur thinking of “dieting” for ur “health” or to look a certain way (bc lets be real is it ever not even a little abt looking a certain way) please look at the research abt how fasting kills
also just a lil note if ur experiencing rapid weight gain and your movement/food intake hasn’t changed it’s probably something you should see a doctor abt! big unexplained changes in weight (both losing and gaining) are often indicative of a bigger issue
