risk. Decriminalisation aims to allow sex workers to regulate the industry and remove any exploitation that may exist within it, allowing their safety and rights to be prioritised. For example, in New Zealand where sex work was decriminalised in 2003, official government 2/3
reports have found that 70% of sex workers said they were more likely to report violence to the police and there has been no evidence of trafficking since the law changing.
