One of those chills running up the spine moments.

For some time I've been trying to find a place that would ship Franconian wine to where I live. Finally I did, @saratogawine, and ordered a case. I recognized the winery, but all the time had a strange feeling I couldn't place.
For weeks I've been working on the history of Franconian wine making as part of my research on witch trials. For the past several days I've been reading the wills and inventories of people executed as witches, looking (in part) for information on vineyards.
I wanted to know how much they cost, how much they produced, who owned them, etc. I finished my day with a very detailed inventory of the estate of a husband and wife who had been executed in 1628. They owned several vineyards, mostly by the same town, but there was an outlier.
When I opened my box of wine today and looked at the bottle I had a shock.

The wine came from this couple's vineyard, the outlier, the one described in the list of their holdings that they had drawn up the night before they were executed as witches almost 400 years ago.
