spiritual reading etiquette (for readers & clients) thread
i prob won’t be able to cover everything but i’m going to try. so first off,

1. clients, know what type of reader you’re going to. what do they practice? what tools do they divine with? what beliefs do they hold? who do they associate with? do you value the things they do?
you should know what your spiritualist does, what they practice, how they’re in the community, etc etc. every spiritualist is not the same. some are diviners. some are teachers. some are both. some practice hoodoo. some are christian. some practice Ifa. some are independent.
know these things. make an educated decisions and watch how organized they are.

2. CLIENTS, speak up if you dont receive your reading or if it doesn’t resonate. A reading not resonating doesn’t = a refund all the time but it’s helpful feedback for both parties.
If you have a scheduled time.. which you should... and you do not receive your reading wait 24 hours before checking in and just check in and see if they’re OKAY FIRST. readers are people. see if they’re okay. i would say after 1-2 weeks, if you dont receive it, ask for a refund
BUT PLEASE speak up if you dont receive anything. I would feel so bad when a reading or package would be lost in translation or would be sitting in the Outbox. Things happen. If you aren’t having a call with them and it’s through email... follow up.
3. READERS, make sure you have a scheduling page. acuityscheduling is great. squarespace is great. doing readings thru dms, sending written pages.. i used to do it but it creates SO MANY problems
and it can be viewed as unprofessional. i wish someone would’ve told me to just schedule on a site and do phone calls or zoom calls with clients. i do this now, but i used to run into problems w/ past clients for TWO reasons.

1. sending written or recorded info to an email+
can easily get lost and i found that many of my clients never responded or said thank you. this means 1. i didnt get feedback. 2. i never knew if they got it.

since i never knew if they received it, sometimes people would come back months later and be like “i never got it.”
that was a problem bc i would be like what? i sent it on this day and could prove it, etc etc. but still someone didn’t get a reading. thats a problem. it makes the reader look bad and now you have to refund. often would i would do business before, people just.. wouldn’t speak up
so i’m thinking everything’s good and it’s not. the last thing you want to be labeled as is a sc*mmer and i know thats not many peoples intentions.

4. Readers, don’t argue with clients. This is customer service. Tact goes a long way. Stand your boundaries but always try to be+
accommodating. If you need to speak up, do so respectfully. I had someone nagging at my time and demanding a reading from me, so I respectfully told them I dont feel comfortable. Just speak up, but dont argue. Use email primarily, not direct or text messages.
This is a professional setting. Hold yourself to that standard.

Send follow up emails when needed and I always prefer to refund over withholding. I personally won’t ever be like “no.” unless ive done the reading and it’s present. I’ll offer extra compensation, time or money.
5. if you can, start doing phone calls. have scheduled times with scheduled people and pick up the phone to call them. this ensures you are never behind on readings and dont have to go through any of the mess above. it’s also amazing to connect with a PERSON live. i love it.
6. Readers, get involved with quick bo*ks self employed. Make sure you have a business p*ypal. Make sure payments are direct from your website after people book. Take payment upfront. All that. Be on top of your shit. For t*xes, keep business and personal money separate.
Ultimately, it depends on how serious you want to be about your business. If anyone needs help with that let me know. Just make sure youre on top of your things. These small things will separate readers and really be what makes or breaks your time here as a spiritualist. :)
