For all those saying TN is producing world class doctors it surely is but after they go abroad and get trained. The top doctors at most Corporate hospitals in the State are either trained abroad or have trained at AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER etc. These are the docs our netas go to
The training we get is patchy at best in most Medical Colleges and awful at worst. Bcos there are so few good teachers, doctors mostly learn on the job. When a person comes out with an MBBS he is ill equipped to handle really sick patients.
He or she then learns on the job or during PG by making mistakes that are never detected bcos no one is measuring quality anywhere. Do you know how many cases a doctor has messed up? Abroad you will, at least those who mess up big time. Here they go on & on in practice.
When you don't measure you don't know how good or bad anyone is.That is how it is in healthcare all over India. Many of the top docs hv trained abroad or at top Institues in India. When politicians go to a Corporate hospital they aren't going there just bcos it is cleaner than GH
They go for the medical skill of the doctors and in the belief that processes there would be better and so outcomes too. In TN 30-40 yrs ago Govt had the best doctors in the State
With Corporatization that has changed. Today hardly any patient wants to go to a Govt hospital unless they are forced to.Ask yourself why.And saying that TN is far better than Bihar or UP or Odisha is pointless.Saying you scored 3/10 bcos others scored 1/10 shd not make us proud
We need better quality healthcare for all. #NEET may not be the answer to improving quality. But to all those who say that we are getting great quality of healthcare in TN, I can only feel sorry for your ignorance.
