Happy Saturday! ✨ I want to take some time to highlight fat creators and activists whose work has inspired my own and with whom I’m very lucky to be in community and solidarity. Thread below. 💛
IMO, @MerQueenJude has carved one of the safest and most educational fat-positive spaces on the Internet. They’re a streamer and content creator whose presence in my life has changed me significantly for the better. Please follow Jude!
Anti-fatness is rooted in anti-Blackness, and @DaShaunLH’s work centers around this fact. They’re an incredible writer and an outspoken advocate for whom I’m wildly grateful. Please follow them.
When I started the journey to love myself and advocate for fat liberation, @fatgirlfreedom was one of the first people I followed — and she’s only continued to make me feel valued and seen in the intervening years. Please follow her!
If you’re superfat and seeking resources and community (or if you’re NOT superfat and want to learn how to support those who are), look no further than @comfyfat, whose blog and socials are a constant source of light in this internet hellscape.
The first time I saw a video of @rachielouwho performing, it changed my entire life. Reading or hearing Rachel’s poetry feels a bit like my breath is being stolen and my bones are being imbued with the strength of a goddess all at once.
To be honest, working with @freeblackgirl still feels like a dream. Evette’s work at @bitchmedia — especially her writing about the history of the fat acceptance movement — was and is integral to my own understanding of and advocacy for fat liberation.
Medical fatphobia is so rampant and food talk is often incredibly toxic. @synapse101 is an incredible voice for changing how we nourish our bodies and discuss that nourishment, and I’m so grateful for her work.
This thread will be updated throughout the weekend! ✨ Twitter always breaks my long threads if I do them all at once aaaand I have a very intense to-do list, so this will be one of my break activities. 💛
