not that I think we should turn around now and go "take it out of museums! don't enjoy the painting in any way!" more just honestly I am personally suspicious of some of those artists having been pedophiles back when that was socially acceptable and feel it should be questioned?
lik brought up in some way? I save a lot of renaissance art because I love the softness a lot of them have and posing+landscape background but you know? like a good chunk is girls who look between 13-16 in sexualized poses that's seen now as "art so you don't think about that"
idk where I'm going with this but I think even classical art it should be keep in mind that yeah, that is a child painted leaning back on a rock in a thin transparent cloth. and if someone uses that as an excuse to sexualize children today, it's a bad excuse and no different
