I’m seeing a lot of arguments that “the average consumer” or “average user” won’t care that the iPhone 12 Pro is 60Hz instead of 120Hz. That’s not the point. There are “regular” iPhones and “Pro” iPhones for a reason. The minute we accept mediocrity is when we lose influence.
If you’re not going to acknowledge the bad news that we’re still getting a notch, no longer getting EarPods, no longer getting a power supply/chord, no longer getting a 120Hz refresh rate - when other smartphones are providing all of that and more - I’d question your integrity.
The lack of power supply I don’t care about. For $20 I can solve that problem - free if you’re already an iPhone user. The notch and 60Hz refresh rate are hardware limitations we have no control over. That’s why this hits harder than no wall adapter and EarPods.
What are we getting besides a LiDAR scanner, squared edges, a new color, and slightly better cameras? What’s the appeal $1,000+ appeal?
Having said all this, OBVIOUSLY I’m going to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’m a part of the @Apple iPhone Upgrade Program. I’d be paying for it anyway and it’s my job to unbox and review it. If I was a regular consumer, however, I’d be pissed at how this phone is shaping up to be.
