Literal criminals have figured out that as long as they are staunch supporters of those issues, they can do pretty much do anything else they want and not lose voters. I have talked to people who say they don't like trump but...
2A, god, abortion or all three dictate that they vote for him. As long as a politician supports those hot button issues, they pretty much have votes locked in no matter how big of a turd the politician may be. A lot of conservatives are locked in this box.
This explains a lot of the 40ish % that still support trump that's been baffling many people. They don't necessarily support financial crimes, racism and authoritarianism. They just have other *unchangeable* beliefs that are more important to them.
