@jkenney distracted Alberta the other day by announcing the #COVID school mapping at the same time they signed a bill removing overtime protection for employees.
This same gvt that said they're for the "ordinary worker." The day after labour day!
This is a rant about #braindrain
The changes to our labour laws disincent employers from staffing up b/c there is no downside to keeping labour costs low.
#PeterDrucker explained that employees should NOT been seen as cost centres. They add value.
How? Without human capital #Buisness can't run.
Examples:
EMS worker who has to do a longer shift b/c it is cheaper to have this than staff up means potentially more mistakes
The caregiver who takes care of your mom in the understaffed nursinghome means more mistakes
No incentive to staff up b/c ppl are seen as cost centers.
This applies to all industries: food processing, logistics and supply chain (getting goods to you), child care, retail, manufacturing...
Everything not done by a robot...
The @Alberta_UCP has undermined the average Albertan every step of the way.
1. No job protection
2. Removal of insurance & utility caps
3. Selling @Albertaparks
4. Defunding PUF & AISH
@erinotoole is planning on standing side by side with @jkenney. There are days like this past week that I will take @JustinTrudeau over the gobsmackingly poor policy decisions that the @Alberta_UCP has passed. @CPC_HQ you want to help Alberta? Protect us from @jkenney.
Everything he has done is a disincentive to attract new businesses, new employees, and new investors.
Our economy cannot grow if we don't put PEOPLE first.
Human capital is what is the engine of Alberta not the energy sector.
We have a #braindrain starting.

Investment $$ follows people. Angel investors look at a few things before they back a biz... and one of those things is people; who is leading the company and do they have the right players to succeed.
@jkenney @Alberta_UCP you are a bad investment. Your lack of successful fundraising was an indication of this.
The fact that the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs are CHOOSING NOT Alberta is an indication of this.
The human capital that drove this province through the 1980's downturn isn't valued by today's leadership so they don't have to stay. That's what makes this recession worse than under @JustinTrudeau's dad.
Your policies are reinforcing the bad and not creating anything new.
@jkenney you want to stop the #braindrain? You want $$ to come back to Alberta? Get out of your own way! #COVID had proven that we can run our business from anywhere. It also means we can employ people who don't want to move to Alberta. This means less tax revenue.
Make it worthwhile for business owners to keep our companies here. Make it enticing for employees to stay.

This new labour legislation goes directly against what you keep wanting to create.

$$ follows people. Tax $$ follows people. #braindrain leads to less $$. And so on...
