Most people fail to recognize that Islam was the first to give women their rights. 1442 years ago, Islam abolished the harsh act of female babies’ burial, uplifted the status of women, and gave women their rights and protected them all at once.
In Islam, men and women are both spiritually equal. Both are obligated to obey Allah and follow the teachings and rules of Islam. Allah (SWT) says in [4:24]:
An example of how Allah is just to everyone despite their gender, is the story of Adam and Hawaa (Eve). In the Quran, verses [7:19-27], the blame is put on both of them, not Just Hawaa like the Bible says. So, both of them made a mistake, repented, and then they were forgiven.
In [46:15], the Quran tells us to respect our parents especially our mothers since they go through the hardship of pregnancy.
The political rights are also equal in Islam for both men and women. Both men and women are supposed to obey Allah and follow his commands. Verse [9:71]
Islam also gave women their economic rights years ago. It is the duty of the unmarried woman’s father or brother to financially support her and after she gets married, it is the duty of her husband or son.
She still has the option to work if she wanted to but she is not obligated to spend any of her earnings on anyone or anything. She has the right to spend it or keep it all to herself.
[4:4]
Married women also have the right to receive a dowry (mahr) from her husband. In the Indian culture, the women are usually the ones giving the dowry to the husband, but in Islam, it’s the opposite.

Women in Islam also have the right to education. The first guidance revealed by Allah to all mankind was “read”. One of the best scholars in Islam is Aisha رضي الله عنها.
Women also have social rights in Islam. Unfortunately, in some countries, femicide is still a thing. Women are being killed every day. Islam does not condone that in any way.
These were just some of the rights that women have in Islam to show that women are not looked down upon or oppressed like people say. In Islam, the only thing that differentiates a human being from another, is their taqwa (piety). It is not their gender, color, age, or status.
