1/ It is becoming rapidly clearer that Johnson and Cummings are igniting a prolonged clash with the EU which will drown out the failure of Brexit in a torrent of nationalist hysteria, and will divide the country into those posing as patriots and the traitors allied with Brussels.

2/ A ruling elite that serves only itself & its super-rich donors can only maintain public support by dividing the nation into patriots & enemies. A clean end to Brexit would make it much harder to maintain that division. What better then than a long & bitter conflict with the EU

3/ And think how hard it will be to persuade ordinary folk that we oppose the government's bellicose stance while actually being more patriotic than those spewing out jingoistic hate against the EU. This will be the great patriotic war. We will be portrayed as traitors.

4/ The economy will be ruined. The UK's international reputation will be ruined. But the Tory Brexit elite won't care. They will be riding a wave of jingoistic popularity. And remember, they couldn't care less about the country so long as they are doing well.
