This is a wonderful piece of writing.

As my father’s hotel supplier business merely survived Bali Bombing back in 2002 and 2005, i was too little to understand that relying income to single line of industry was extremely fragile. https://twitter.com/febrofirdaus/status/1304612344270471168
But i did feel the impact. From various menu every meal, it was down to constant combination of tempe-tahu-telur for a while. From 10-15 man power business, my father (a man without degree) finally lose our house and only 2 staff left in 2007.
When Mount Agung erupted in 2017, i was in Bali working as divemaster and we all felt the cloud that loomed our future. This time i understand better the pressure and uncertainties. Constant worry and stress were all that we feel, at least for those whose line of work affected.
But this corona pandemic, while it surely will change the course of life of many Balinese and non-Balinese who’s relying on tourism, i hope it’ll also bring profound enlightenment that Bali is more than just a merely tourist destination.
May it bring back the stronger culture that for long its people proud of, use this important moment to setback the course to make the future’s tourism more sustainable, and design a better system where Bali’s not only relying on tourism.
