the problem I have with white liberal environmentalist vegans is how they point to the agricultural industry and identify "meat consumption" as the issue instead of "meat consumption under capitalism"

and that last part is massively important unless we want to pretend that indegenious people haven't been consuming meat for thousands of years without destroying the environment

but I digress from my point, which is that this false identification allows them to continue to participate in capitalism, which imho would still destroy the environment, and is still not cruelty free

the removal of capitalism and replacement with a sustainable system would de facto lead to reduced meat consumption

on the other hand I'm not convinced that pushing everyome to go vegan is the green bullet many seem to think it is when it comes to the climate crisis

not to mention that it's a crisis that also can't be solved by individual choices. it needs change that at the global institutional level.
