Unwittingly (at least initially), the Emirates and the Bahrainis are giving their blessing to Jewish prayer on the Temple Mt./Haram al Sharif – something which is a blatant violation of the status quo which every Israeli Prime Minister since 1967 has opposed.

That normalization devalues the importance of ending the occupation the Palestinians in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza is widely acknowledged.

As sinister as the intent is, it is not to late to fix this..
The Sept. 15 ceremony should be contingent on an unequivocal, public, binding undertaking by the US and Israel: there is nothing in normalization that changes, the status quo on Haram al Sharif/the Temple Mount.

Netanyahu himself publicly undertook to maintain the status quo on the Mount, and with total clarity: Muslims pray on the Temple Mount; non-Muslims visit the Temple Mount.

All that needs be done to make this go away is for Netanyahu and Trump to quote NETANYAHU, and to reaffirm the US and Israeli commitment to the status quo.
And if they won't ,it will conclusively confirm how justified our analysis is.
