@attorneygeneral thanks the #BarCouncil for inviting her to chair the AGM. She describes Amanda Pinto as 'highly effective in the most challenging circumstances' & praises her commitment to diversity in the profession. She thanks the bar for its dedication during the pandemic.
AG recognises this is a tough time, particularly for those starting at the publicly funded bar. The UK benefits enormously from professional excellence of lawyers. 'The contribution that our lawyers make to the rule of law is crucial'
AG hands over to Amanda Pinto QC to continue the meeting. APQC thanks her for her kind words & says the AG has shown her commitment to the bar by attending public & private meetings, AG will take questions later.

APQC: Bar Council has urged the judiciary to publish guidance on listing, protecting shielding & vulnerable advocates. She thanks all @thebarcouncil staff, committee members and volunteers who have helped.
The @barcouncil website is now a continually updated resource to help the bar deal with the pandemic as well as taking many many phone calls.
