THREAD - Basically, the government’s site didn’t even give us the option of driving hundreds of miles - nothing. Just said, no tests available.
However, There is a ludicrous loophole you can use (told in hushed tones) to get access to the completely EMPTY drive through test centre where dozens of fantastic staff are waiting. 2/3
To get into the test centre you need a QR code. This is what you get by going to the http://gov.uk site. You need this to get to the test. Most English addresses come back with no availability so won’t give you this code.
However if you put a random Scottish postcode in... boom - here’s your QR code. Then you drive to one of the centres, show your code and then register with your name and mobile number.
Ludicrous. I could understand it if it were due to overwhelming numbers, but the centre was completely empty.
To clarify- I didn’t do this to avoid having to drive a distance for test for my family - it just said NO TESTS.
It’ll probably get closed off soon but I thought I’d tell people because this is one of the few instances something like this can genuinely be called a life hack. So pass it on.
This system is a complete shambles. There will be people who will fall seriously ill and/or spread because of your incompetence @MattHancock @BorisJohnson - how do you sleep at night?
