Many musicians often struggle with second album syndrome, failing to match or improve on their debut. Maybe a change to a mediocre drug supplier or creative rut. Anything goes. This was not the case with Siningankale Wakumbali, Nalu's follow up to House, Money Car.
On 'Ups and Downs' she has cunning control of her voice, akin to singing to herself in sync with a scenic Sunday sunset. By your second listen of the album, it's already grown on you like a Pep Stores t-shirt after the third wash.
Everything glorious about Nalu's second album is her switch up on 'Mutima'. This seamless bouquet of backing and lead vocals, arrangement and writing is one of ten Zambian songs to listen to live at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. If organic honey was a song.
The album is produced chiefly by Elijah Marko Tembo Jr of Kula Music Studio who, if you didn't know, has the sort of talent and badassery that delivers under the radar.

Siningankale Wakumbali is exactly that. Nalu is centre stage as an artist and I dare you to tell me different.
