(Important thread)

Growing up, many of us are raised with the perception that alcohol, clubs etc are the equivalent of the boogieman. And then, when, unfortunately, many of us get exposed to that sin, we have this moment of, “Oh! this (insert sin here) isn’t so scary after all.”
This, unfortunately, has led many to justify and even to indulge in that sin.

The reason why this happens is because we have a lot of pre-conceived reasons about the impermissibility of sins.
So when those (often exaggerated) reasons do not meet our experience, we adopt the sin on the basis of our intellect; not realizing the severity of it in the court of Almighty Allah.

It is like the man who comes home at night and is informed by his wife their goat is missing.
As he feels his way through the jungle at night, he comes across the figure of his goat and drags it back to the house and ties it in the backyard. Early next morning, he is abruptly woken by the shrill screams of his wife, exclaiming, “There is a lion tied to our backyard!”
… You see, the lion is such an animal who does not disturb anyone once its full. The night before, the man was unaware of the dangerousness of the animal he was dragging home, and was hence, able to do so with confidence and arrogance.
Now that the light has arrived and he sees the severity of what he is dealing with and there is no way that he would even go close to the lion!

Our sins are the lion in this analogy, and knowledge and recognition of Allah is the morning light.
A person who is able to commit such major sins so boldly, only does so without actually knowing the severity of what he is dealing with.
