I think people have blown the cuties thing way out of proportion.
I was disgusted by the clips at first. Then a friend of mine who I trust and who's taste in films and film analysis is one of the best I've ever seen, decided to watch it, I thought I'd wait till he watched it

B4 I gave my opinion. I was surprised to find he flipped his opinion after watching it. He explained the plot to me. And what it was trying to say. So here's a rundown.
The main kid originally from Senegal lives with her mom and brothers in a poor part of Paris.(2/6)
Her mother finds out her husband is getting a second wife. She is devastated intially but then accepts it. She makes room for her in their tiny apartment. The kid starts getting enamored with western culture and especially the hypersexualuzation of young girls (3/6)
She sees the attention they get, the amount of likes on social media they get
Etc. She feels pushed into that realm trying out for a dance group. Her mother finds out and punishes her. Tries to tell her how to be a proper woman. (4/6)
But how can she speak on the matter when she wasn't woman enough for her husband.
That's basically it. The clash between the extremes of western and Islamic culture. it's meant to make u think abt it. To feel how both extremes are wrong. (5/6)
To realise we need to take care of our lil girls.
Lol girls twerking on one side of the planet. Lol girls being married off to grown ass men in the other (Asian countries in general). It's uncomfortable. It shud make u feel disgusted. Maybe that's the point. Just saying. (6/6)
